=THIS IS NOT A RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT=
I have just uploaded the first second third fourth fifth sixth seventh eighth ninth tenth eleventh release candidate for Ubersetzung. This
is so we can test out the installer and the zip packaging and the
Vikings of Midgard integration, and generally get excited about the
up-coming release. this bloddy thing released finally!
RC11 Windows Installer
RC11 zip file
RC11 minimalist zip (fits on a floppy)
RC11 Linux binaries
RC11 for Debian and Ubuntu
If no further disastrous bugs are found within approx. one to one-and-a-half weeks, soon
probably regardless of what bugs are reported (or get fixed) this week, I will make an official release on Septh 14th.
Okay, I spoke too soon. Bug 464 needs fixing first.
Test the heck out of this, and maybe we can release on Saturday!
Now we are waiting on: Bug 466 and Bug 467
Happy continued last-minute bug-hunting!
EDIT: Released on 2007-09-21 |

Is it just me, or are the sound effects way too loud when compared to the background music?
Well, I'll be searching for bugs now >:p |

Hmm... Has the nightlies changed to accommodate this? Sound does not work for me unless I use fb-sdl (I am pretty sure it's because of my sound controller rather than OHRRPGCE itself). _________________

Sound Effects and Midi music are controlled by separate volume mixers on most sound cards.

"changed to accommodate this"? What "this" exactly? If you mean the installers, no, but the versions of game.exe and custom.exe in the release candidate are the same as the ones in the nightlies.
If sound doesn't work for your sound controller in music_native, that is still a bug worth reporting. |

Yeah, that is a bug. Presumably anybody with a similar sound card to you would have the same problem.
Does sound crash, or is it just silent?
What is your version of Windows?
Do you know your soundcard's model number and manufacturer?
Do any other programs on your computer have sound problems? |

The sound is just silent.
I am running Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2.
My on-board sound uses SoundMAX drivers. _________________

I downloaded and tried it....and it works just fine!
I found no bugs whilst playing vikings of midgard-but the sound FX are a tad louder then the music... |

See the summer lightning cast it's bolts upon you...
So, this is like an alpha release of Uber? And is the topic title a reference to what's in the cyan?

Hmmm... soundmax... I remember that card was the bane of my existence back in the QuickBasic/DOS days when we were playing BAM through the Adlib interface.
Have you tested other music types besides BAM and MIDI? What happens if you import an MP3 or an OGG or a MOD? |

I found the problem. "SW Synth" was muted in the volume controls for some unholy reason (I figured this out by testing .mid files outside of OHR). Sorry James. It was just something silly I ended up overlooking. _________________

Hey! The same thing always happens to me too.
Something's starting to smell mighty fishy 'round here... |

You can easily fix this by turning the gain down on the file with Audacity. Simple and effective.
I have, however, noticed that when I play my game on the nightly, that it seems to play a little slower than hasta, especially the music. Don't know what could be causing that.
And why is it starting in windowed mode? Is that something I did? Not a huge deal but just wondering. _________________ MOCBJ Software - My Games

Another thing to note:
If you play a game with debugging keys on and exit the game but not game.exe, and you load another game, you will retain any debugging keys you had on before (i.e. was playing my game with walk-thru walls on and it did the same with Vikings of Midgard) _________________ MOCBJ Software - My Games

Shh! That's not a bug! That's a cheat feature of the OHR
As for the windowed thing, that's just how it starts up. _________________ http://www.castleparadox.com/gamelist-display.php?game=750 Bloodlust Demo 1.00
