I started up a spankin brand new website called Indy OHR! I hope everyne takes 3 minutes to check out the simple website I put toghether.

But much bigger than my website is the National OHR Month (NOHRM)Contest!

I'll copy and paste the rules from the webpage. If you need any more info check out the Indy OHR page for news and current contest standings. The entire thing is geared tword community growth so please read the rules and give it a shot Happy

Rules.

The Rules Are Simple.

1) Contestants must state in some way or form that they wish to participate

2) Whenever a contestant releases somthing they must make it known in some way. Either PM/Email BattleBlaze, make an announcement, or post in the designated area in the journal section.

Point List.
Get points by releasing various things. The ones with the most points take home the win. This is the chart of things to release and the amount of points they are worth.
Some items on the chart require certain users to verify in order to be redeemed.

Releasing a new game = 10 points

Updating an exisitng game =5 points

Writing a review for a previously unreviewed game =4 points

Finding a new bug (will have to be verified by one of the programmers) =2 points

Helping Solve an exisiting bug (will have to be verified by one of the programmers) =4 points

Contributing to the next issue of Hamsterspeak in the form of a review or an article (Will have to be veriefied by one of the HamsterSpeak staff) =5 points

Writing a guide for one of the requested Items on the ohr HOWTO wiki = 2 points

Helping a newer member* with some aspect of their game (verified by said new member)= 4 points

Releasing new piece of art (music or visual) in the art forum =1 point

*Newer members are generally members with less than 160 post. If there is some dispute over who is a new member a general vote will be taken.

Bonus Points
When it comes down to the wire you might wish you would have gone the extra inch to get some bonus points.

Games released using a new WIP feature (game designer should point out where the said feature is used) = 2 bonus points

Collab games = 2 bonus points to each designer

Games that administer instruction (games like *worthy* graphics) = 5 bonus points

Collab games involving newer users= 4 bonus points

Games about Hamster Republic itself or the Bob the Hamster shooting= 3 bonus points

Games with original music= 1 bonus point

Users who participate in other contest during the month (if there are any) = 2 bonus points.

Not too hard eh? Just do rule bumber one and follwo up with rule number two and you're in. The contest is easy enough just be productive!

Thanks for pointing those out PHC. I fixed most of them.

FTW= For the Win

By top 10 I just mean we should start putting list toghether of past and current games similar to the top 30...Be optimistic.

I'll change the colors when I get around to it.

Also, I noticed at the bottom of your page it states to check out Castle Paradox on more info on the OHR. However, Castle Paradox's front page doesn't relay any info, whatsoever, on the OHR.

Wouldn't it be smarter to point people to, I dunno.. say.. the OHR Wiki, or even Hamster Republic? Castle Paradox is just a community, and without having the OHR, no one's going to want to really join it.

The webring project has some potential, I'd give it that. Perhaps it would be a better idea to link to the game list itself?

Well, I already updated my old game this month, so I guess that can count. I'm also going to try to have enough done with my next game to be able to release something playable, but I'm really trying to take my time with the graphics a little more on this one, so there's a good chance it won't be playable by the end of August. Is statement of intent okay in this thread, or do we have to sign up for your set of forums? To be honest, I have no great desire to. Do you really anticipate many users/topics on your forums that are not already here?

All that said, it could be a really good idea to try to move forward with the webring. Do any users here post on some other RPG/game-making forums? I'm a little suprised that Surlaw did not link up. The home of Hamsterspeak should certainly be on any such webring. Then again, the Surlaw forums aren't really about game-making or even RPGs in general, one might say...

Just to claify, no one has to sign up for my forums. I havent even set one up yet really.

5 points to MSW, current leader in the contest.Although anyone could get ahead by simply writing 2 new reviews.

JSH recently brought some intresting things to me, so heres a

Rule Update
Games can be updated all they want, but can only get the 5 update points every 2 weeks per game.

Game batch releases (i.e I just found 10 old games i'm releasing so I can get 100 points) can and will only count for 15 points maximum.

BloodBlade is in the contest and his recently updated Epicgame is worth 5 points plus the 2 bonus points for using a feature, has put him in the lead with 7 points.

Oh, I forgot about the whole bonus point thing. My game has almost entirely original music, which was updated in the update (just some remixing and panning implementation really). I'm not sure what all should be considered a WIP feature. My update uses the new "none" option for map music to maintain music continuitiy in several places. I also used a WIP specifically for a bugfix; I can't remember which now. Maybe bug 184 (dead enemies don't always die, and must be killed again...?). Anyway, I'm not sure I can really claim any of these as WIP "features".

Well since MSW just brought that to attention

WE CURRENTLY HAVE A TIE!

Although Anyone useing a WIP feature int eh future has to tell me at the same time as they do the game! SInce this was the first time and I did't post it in the rles I'll let it slide this time, but thats it.

Anyone can easily win right now with a new game or a couple of
reviews.

And as a reminder, anyoen who's updated/released a game this month only has to express intrest in being in the contest and their games will count for points.
