I'd be interested in participating, though I'm a REALLY slow artist, so I'd probably submit grass made out of solid green or something like that >_>
What would hosting one entail? Doing the judging and setting the criteria? I'd be down with that. |

I'd be up for it.
Even though DJFenix's series of 48Hr Contests was pretty disappointing.
Hopefully the turnout for this one will be a bit better. |

Hm, 48 hours means real time and not development time, right? |

People always seem to look forward to it, but the turnout never seems to reflect that. It also seems like there's fewer and fewer entries each year >_>
Because of this, i thought that the turnout was due to bad timing, so last year, i made a series so people could enter at their leisure. But even then, that made turnout even worse.
I still have pretty interesting ideas that could work for a 48 hour, but it would be pretty disappointing if this year ends up in naught as well

That would be development time. I've been doing this for years, even before EotE2 was out. You sure you haven't heard of it? |

I know about these contests and even the games that were made during them (Grief for example), but I never really participated in them. I don't think it would be development time, though. It's probably real time, but my time is too limited I think. 48 hours development time would be like two months for me. |

The answer Rya was looking for is real time. You have 48 real hours, start to finish, to work on your game. _________________

whoops, i had a misunderstanding, heh. Thanks moogle.
So you'll have a weekend to start and finish as much as you can (with at least some playable content) |

I'll enter if I can. Any ideas when? You should come to common agreement about when to hold it.
Also, I suggest allowing people to choose a different 48 hour span for themselves if the suggested one isn't convenient. For example, I'd rather spend a weekend on it rather than sunday and monday, like it inevitably ends up becoming when the deadline is set in a US timezone. Of course, then you can't keep the theme a secret until the moment of starting (rely on the honour system?) _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

I stopped the "use this .rpg file" thing a while back, simply because there are way too many things that can be done outside the editor, namely graphics and plotscripts. Those two are probably the largest components in any game, and it's too easy to import from external sources. So, again, it's the honour system in play there, in addition to hoping that the theme would throw any possible cheaters off, and make any of the premade material useless.

Like I said above, because I dont use a "contest .rpg file" anymore, it's the theme that hopefully prevents anyone from making anything beforehand. I wouldn't put my faith on the honour system alone.
But, if i were to do this, it would be vital to the contest that the theme be known whenever a contestant starts the contest, which would be possible if I emailed all the participants the theme individually, and hold off releasing their game until everyone is done (or, have them send me the game like they did the earliar years). |

I will participate at the given time, but Wednesdays and Fridays are days I would be unable to do absolutely nothing, so preferably, if the contest takes place in two days that aren't one of those days, I'll be able to attend this event more fully. _________________ http://www.castleparadox.com/gamelist-display.php?game=750 Bloodlust Demo 1.00
