|
|
Yesterday I downloaded Sword of Jade from the official site to find that I could not play it. Upon trying to create a new game, I get multiple script errors and the screen just stays blank. I have tried multiple version of GAME, including the one bundled with the game itself. Any suggestions? _________________ MOCBJ Software - My Games

Official site? You might have downloaded it from here or here or here, or out of Fyre's SVN repository (latest version), or off the old "official site", rpgcreations.com, years ago when it existed (probably not), or off a download site on the internet.
But anyway, that problem is not something I've ever heard of before. Sounds like most likely something you downloaded is corrupted. I would try redownloading, or downloading a different version. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

I lost rpgcreations.com because the company that registered it sold it to spammers even though they shouldn't have.
Now due to registrar rules, it's going to be held by spammers forever |

So, you're using hastalaqb since using voxhumana or the nightlies shows script errors?
Is that Mi'la? Funny, I can't remember that bit. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

I just tested Jade.rpg with the latest nightly, and I get:
Code: | Script Error!
script id 2 does not exist |
when trying to start a new game.
I checked the playing.tmp file, and 2.hsx does exist.
Could this be an hsx vs hsz problem? |

Also, I must suck at this game. I can't get past that part because Dogero is generally already dead and the battle never ends. |
Is the palette only messed up for the cutscene or is it permanent? It seemed that the engine would pick the wrong picture or palette sometimes for no discernable reason. |

That is the error I got when playing it on a newer version of the engine.

If I ever get beyond that point in the game I will let you know. I plan on restarting this weekend and trying to get a bit further in it. _________________ MOCBJ Software - My Games

I am pretty sure I fixed this bug last night. See '' . bug_title('653') . ''
I have not closed '' . bug_title('643') . '' yet, but as soon as somebody test with a nightly build and verifies that the problem was the same, I can close that one too. |

I fixed the bug - it was due to me telling Fyre to preunlump the 'HSP' lump to make the game load a bit faster - and bugs 643 and 653 are unrelated.
However, SoJ is just not supported by current versions of the OHR. I just tried both the original release and the nightly SVN version and neither work. It's been that way a long time. That's why Fyre doesn't advise playing with a version more recent that the last one he used (I think?).
Rya also reported being randomly teleported around certain maps when the time of day changed, I don't know what that is about. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
