Hi, it's been a while but I'm still working away.
I would like to know if there are plans to expand the text box choices. I want to add in depth conversations with skill checks for things like appearance, charisma but with the 2 choice limit using tags I think it would be too time consuming.
Are there any plans to add more choices as a feature? If not, what are some of my options?
Thanks. |

Menus are your best bet, most likely. _________________

Yeah, that's basically what menus are for.
I complained about the 2 choice limitation on the mailinglist a little while back (complete with completely impractical solution), but James' answer was rather ambiguous.
If someone does eventually rewrite the textbox file format (like I said I would), then choice boxes are something I would definitely want to improve. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

James has said he wants to convert the choice boxes to custom menus anyway.
Go with menus. _________________

Thanks. I am relatively unfamiliar with some of the new features; could someone please explain roughly how they work and how easy it is to do in custom? |

basically it's just like the choice boxes in the text boxes. I'm sure if you fiddle around with it a little it'll do what you want. That's my philosophy on everything. If you play with it long enough you'll get what you want out of it. |

Thanks for the replies... I seem to have figured it out. One more problem I am having is changing the background colours for the status screens - defaults to a horrible orange colour. Any help would again be appreciated, thanks.
Edit: Pfft nevermind found it literally less than a minute after I posted this. |

You mean the built in status screen? Not sure why it would be orange, did you change some of the UI colours or change the master palette?

Did he? I also said that. (And I meant that when I suggested it to him, he didn't seem to agree) _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

I have mixed feelings about converting choice boxes into menus.
The main advantages would be:
* unification (for unification's sake?)
* fancy menu features available to choice boxes
The main disadvantage is that it is currently pretty awkward to jump back and forth between the text box editor and the menu editor. If we could resolve that problem, my objections to this would largely melt away.
EDIT: Oh, I also forgot, I think there are still some menu/textbox layering issues to hammer out too.
There is also the fact that just adding a few more items to the existing choice box implementation wouldn't be very hard at all now that the text box code is more cleaned up. |
