So I've been thinking about character customization. I had the idea of enemies giving no XP, and characters getting stronger by paying for training. So the player would have to choose between buying that hi-potion and getting some swording lessons. This ran into some logistical details (I'd either have level 5 swording and level 1 healing cost the same for a fourth level character, all characters picking up some cheap skills as they went (defeating the purpose), or enemies always dropping the same money everywhere.
Then I got the idea that characters were all "single-classed", and at various times could get to choose whether to learn things that made them better and their chosen class, or dabble. This is trickier to do (it's more of a tabletop RPG idea), but I like it a bit more.
What about you guys? Ever see any really interesting ideas for customization? |
