I told RMZ I'd show him some graphics. Here they are.
I did the trees today. For easy realistic trees, Google Image Search "tree silhouette" and do a little editing. I like how they turned out.
I'm very pleased with the tileset as a whole. It's not terribly complicated, but simple has always worked best for me.
As for what game this is going to turn into... that's a secret. But if someone out there is interested in contributing a fair number of walkabouts, I'd love to partner up on this one. _________________

Ooh, that does look nice. :o But around the edges of the tree, there's annoying black dots. Or maybe it's my computer. |

The trees are sort of poorly antialiased. It's a lot better than it used to be, but I might still fiddle around with them. _________________

If you're talking about the fir, then I'm probably going to leave that one mostly untouched. I'm afraid of it blending into the grass.
But you're right, it might look better toned down just a bit... _________________

Maybe just give it a more defined outline.
or no outline, but the broken outline seems weird. |

Yeah, broken outlines (selout) are generally ugly.
This is not to say you shouldn't dynamically change the color of the outline based on the shape of the object (as well as based on lightsource), but breaking it is usually bad. _________________

I know, I was just making it clearer. |

The idea of basing your pixel art on a silhouette is really awesome. I'm gonna have to try that sometime. |
