Nine months ago the community was given a challenge: create or expand an episodic series for placement within a network called OBC. On May 31st, the season ended and those who participated were put up for a vote.
Four people were given consideration.
But only one remained standing.
And now, after nine grueling months, the victor is crowned.
But first, we must honor the honorable mentions...
Though we haven't seen an update since the contest began, one can thank Onlyoneinall for his timely effort to include a chapter of his reality series Kitty House at the start of the season. And as timely as it was, the single entry ultimately cost him a number of monthly votes and consequently left him in last place.
Final Votes:
4. Kitty House by Onlyoneinall
15+8+8+7+7+9+7+7 = 68
One of the true Epic Marathon heroes once again proved his appreciation for the series when he issued a last minute submission in April just to give the network some new, fresh material. And though it ultimately wasn't enough to tip him into the high ranking stage this time, it was enough to get the community interested in his story and enough to get a few of us interested in seeing it concluded. So here's to hoping it'll be finished someday.
Final Votes:
3. Soliloquy: Take a Look in the Mirror and Try Not to Be Sick by Uncommon (Kingston C. Rockwell)
16+9+9+8+8+7+7+8 = 72
And now, as if it were any surprise, the true contest came down to two entries: one, a longtime staple of the OHR movie, OHR reality show, and partial inspiration for the OBC Network theme--a show that starred members of the community as its cast; the other, a worthy and successful spinoff--a show that starred members of the community's heroes as its cast. Both had charm, both had wit, and both garnered a following over the last year or more. And both were up for contention for first place.
But alas, only one could take it. And for the first time in Epic Marathon history, this was almost a photo finish.
But one tiny design mission objective prevented a tie, and thus, a champion is crowned.
So now I present to you Epic Marathon 5: The OBC Network's second and first place winners:
Final Votes:
2. OHR House 3: On the Plantation by JSH357
54+10+7+10+9+10+9+9 = 118
1. OHR House: Heroes by RedMaverickZero
64+7+10+9+10+8+10+10 = 128
Congratulations, RMZ, for entering the ranks of Epic Marathon winners. JSH, because it was so close, there may still be a prize for you yet.
And that concludes another segment of Epic Marathon.
Series Winners:
Year 1 (Magnus Sequel Marathon) – Uncommon
Year 2 (Volcanic Kings) – everybody dropped out
Year 3 (Mynorety Whispers) – Moogle1
Year 4 (Who Shot Bob the Hamster?) – Uncommon
Year 5 (OBC Network) - RedMaverickZero
Year 6 (Boston, Maryland) - Pending
Another winner will be crowned at the end of the month if anyone actually puts a game together between now and then.
Note: If anyone wants to join Epic Marathon 6, but needs more than 3 weeks to put something together, please speak up now. _________________ Progress Report:
