Alright so i was thinking. Half of the games that i play, very few people know about. Sure, there are the games like runescape that everyone knows and has played at some point, but what about the small ones? Post indie games, or even just games not many people have heard of here! ill start with Wormux!
Wormux is a worms clone, where your favorite free software mascots can duke it out! Included are Firefox (a fox, duh) GNU (some kind of cow, moose?) SuSe (a lizard) and many more! it still in progress, and the AI isnt even working yet, but they have a good selection of weapons and you can create your own maps, although it takes a little more work that you would think.

Holdover
Let me get the negatives out of the way. It's very Nintendo Hard and the awesome story is mitigated by the Engrish translation. For a fix to the latter, there's a better language patch at the bottom of the IndieGames page I provided.
The sound effects and music were both MIDI, which was annoying, but can be overlooked once you get into it.
That aside, I loved this game. It's Metroidvania style, and the story is very gripping and suspenseful. You seriously will not be able to tell whether you're going to get rescued or if your efforts were all meaningless until the absolute last second.
Gameplay is quite interesting too, its entire gimmick is holding your breath underwater, which proves to be quite challenging. You collect air and body upgrades in progress, all while searching for some way out of the post-apocalyptic hellhole you're trapped in.
It's a quick game, not more than a few hours if you know what you're doing, and I'd recommend giving it a shot. Bonus points if you're a drowning fetishist. |

I have broken my addiction to Dwarf Fortress, and have been dwarf-clean for almost two months now. |

Not exactly an obscure game: DoomRL (Doom, the Roguelike) is the awesomest "tea break" action-roguelike. It has all the music and sound effects from the original Doom, which it builds on to create excellent atmosphere, and is terribly addictive. And of course, hard. It has plenty of variety, with many different unique levels and challenge modes.

It is a long road to recovery. Two years here, but I still read everything on the devlog... and... lately... DF Talk! *sobs* _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Lets talk about something else. Posting those DF links is like brining a bottle of Tequila to an Al-Anon meeting :P |

Seven Minutes and Virtual Silence
They're both from the same author, and they will mess you up.
Worth a look if you're into psychosis. |
