I can't remember if I've addressed this issue before, so pardon me if this is a repost.
The following keys on my laptop, which are not standard to most computers, cause an interference in custom.exe:
-Volume Adjustment Keys (volUp, volDown, Mute)
-Brightness Adjustment Keys (Up and Down)
-A Nonstandard Function Key (holding it changes a range of keyboard keys into a number pad, among other things)
The effects on custom vary slightly, but it generally starts to enter in some specific number rapidly and repeatedly for as long as the program remains open, which causes two main problems:
-Any number-based list will persistently highlight the highest-numbered item
-Any text editing is impossible because numbers are being entered so quickly
And basically I need to restart custom every time I inadvertently hit one of the above keys. Thought I'd let you all know. |

Sadly neither of these work perfectly.
GFX_SDL
The volume keys now just enter a single letter, like d, e, or f, and it's no longer a problem there. The brightness keys still interfere though.
Also the palette's a bit different, but maybe I'm just seeing things. I used Spooky Test as a guinea pig.

This one does not work at all. Well, sort of. Sometimes Windows feels finicky and gives the entire screen a big refresh because some program isn't compatible with the standard color scheme.
That happened here, and I don't even know what was going on. The cursor for selecting a game file kept jumping to the second or third item, and when I tried selecting something or even just hitting escape to get out, the program seemed to shuffle rapidly between the current screen and the one it was trying to get to.
Also I didn't test any of my laptop keys on this one. |
