Are transparent areas in maptile layer 0 rendered transparent? and what is the 'maproot' slice layer? is that under layer 0?

(what i am really asking is if i can render slices below tile layer 0 and have them show up only in the transparent areas) |

Map layer 0 is hardcoded opaque, but that will become customisable. If you want to draw something below map layer 0, then you currently need to just leave layer 0 blank and use layer 1 instead. Or wait for the ability to insert another map layer beneath layer 0.

The map root is the parent of all the layer slices. I can't tell you whether it's safe to attach slices to the map root or not, whether this sort of thing should be allowed was a long and unfinished discussion on the mailinglist. I advise you not to, the behaviour in later versions is likely to be at least a little different. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

i thought the only planned new map layers were one over layer 2? so we'd have 2 overhead and 2 under? |

What? No - I wonder who keeps spreading this ridiculous rumour, probably James!

You can now add a new map layer and move it under layer 0. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |
