is it okay to say, " You need to attach a 1,000,000 carat super gem to the hyper reactor to make it work." _________________ So many ideas, so little focus. Monk spirit please lend me your power!

It has mathematical meaning, but lordy that is one enormous gem.
Let's look at the math.
1 carat = 200 milligrams
1,000,000 carats = 200,000,000 milligrams
200,000,000 milligrams = 200 kilograms
So you've got a 200 kg gem there. The standard gold bar is only 1 kg. To put it on a scale, it would probably be as big as 5 humans put together, but this may vary wildly depending on the density. A hyperdense object may be as small as your fist, but require the strength of 10 forklifts to carry.
Dang, I've gone on rambling again. If you want a more "realistic" figure, I'd say 1,000 carats or even 100 carats would be plenty.
EDIT: RESPONSE TO YOU CRAZIES BELOW: You're crazy.

Yes, that would be correct.
1,000,000 carats = 200 kilograms.

Would make for a pretty awesome plot point as to where one could find a 200 kilo gem. |

It's probably in some cave with monsters. _________________ Snippy:

I'd prefer to steal it from the center of the Sun or something equally improbable.
Then you'd have to quest to get a forklift that could do that... |

My wizard needs one for the end of his staff. 200 kilograms is about 400 pounds, right? _________________ "I didn't start the flame war;

C'mon man, make it the still-beating heart of a flying techno whale with a city built on top swimming through the atmosphere of a gas giant planet!
Ethical problems abound with the removal! |

A world with lots of huge gems and the 1000000 carat one is the only one light enough to carry. _________________ Snippy:

Have it be an even bigger gem, then add the obligatory Indiana Jones run from the giant gem boulder sequence. Then, when you escape and the boulder smashes itself to bits, just grab a chunk that's 1e6 carats.
Poison darts are a necessity and for once, have them ALL hit. |

Nothing says "huge" like taking up most of your inventory slots. _________________
