Hello, I'm just announcing that I plan to update my first game, Hero's Journey Demo_0 (It'll be called demo_1 then) in about two weeks or so (when I get back to PSU to use the much faster connection). So far, I've gotten rid of the white sprite outlines that all you guys seem to think is such a horrible idea, I've made enemies unescapable, and to balance that I've made an item that warps you out of dungeons. I've also added to the actual game (if anyone has reached the end of the last demo), and I've made one new song for enemy-type towns/castles.
So, any suggestions? If you haven't played it, it's pretty long already (close to 10 hours, I believe), but to anyone who has played, I'm especially interested in any possible bugs that I have missed (I've playtested pretty extensively, but there's always a possibility I've missed some). Spelling/grammar mistakes too; has anyone noticed any? In any case, I wish a hearty thanks to anyone who has played. |

Gah, I need to finish that. Sorry, I've been pretty busy. I'm in the fourth part right now. I promise I wll eventually finish and review it. Overall it is pretty fun.
I still say increase the speed. Nothing should ever have a speed below 10 unless it's a boss with a super attack of some kind. I've pretty much gotten used to it, but some might see it in the beginning and just stop there. _________________ Locked

Okay, I've finally relented.
All hero's starting speeds have been increased by three, except Colin's whose was increased by two. In addition, I have gone back and reworked the npcs of the first few towns/castles so that there are not repeats of the same npc, and they don't just say "I'm a soldier who protects this town," etc. Having more than 1000 text boxes sure makes things feel a lot freer (is that a word? it's supposed to mean more free)!
I've also changed the statistics of the Part 5 characters, especially defense and HP. I hope that this fixes some problems I've had with their balance as compared to the others. Those are the only major, non plot-related changes so far. If I get as far as I want to in the next week, the update should add between one and two hours of gameplay time. But again, I'd really like to know about any bugs existing in the game. I've found one (actually, more of a story inconsistency) in Part 4, where there are parts of the story which need told better anyway, so I may rework that too. Anything else?
EDIT - Oh yeah, almost forgot. All enemies' speeds were increased by three as well; only makes sense, right? |
