I'm wondering in my mind if I should release a demo of my game...
its definitely lengthy enough, probably longer than a demo should be so maybe I've completed too much to bother releasing a demo. I guess the main part of me that wants to put out a demo is because ,like lots of people, the 2nd biggest reason I make a game is for everyone to enjoy it (1st being filling my creative void ) and this would be my first demo ever.
Anyways, who thinks I should just finish the game so its totally fresh for people to play but maybe not molded by constructive critism so it may be a little rough.
Or should I release a demo now and let you enjoy several hours of gameplay and fix up any problems you think its got? |

Well, if people like the demo, that can make the process of game design much more enjoyable. However, if people don't like the demo, it could make you lose some interest in the game. So basically it depends on how confident you are of your game. I'd just say go for it though. _________________ Locked

go for it, there'll always be one or two people who would help you, by pointing out some bad points and ways get around the problem (i try help out this way, may sound a bit critical though...) _________________ If we were a pack of dogs, IM would be a grand Hound, CN would be a very ficious little pitball, and Giz...well, it doesn't matter breed he is, he'd still be a bitch

If you don't want to release a demo (because everyone will have to stop playing at the end of the demo, and then start up again a few months later, then just show us screenshots, samples of music, etc. Unfortunitly, this won't let us give you any feedback on gameplay, plot, character interaction, etc, which is more important, but probably can't be changed very much this late in the game. _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

I'd do it, and I'll give you a review of it. I'm warning you, though, I tend to be pretty blunt.
But yeah, demos are usually good ideas. You figure out what people don't like so you can fix it, and you find what they DO like so you get inspired...yipie-tae-yay! _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |
