Review # 12 for Dalaran
Them's Fightin' Words
Astroboy, the stupidest super hero ever (well, maybe not ever), makes his premiere in "Armageddon... or something like that." In this the first installment, Astroboy attempts to save the world, and in particular 365 children from the evil Candyman. As he travels to the distant lair of his nemesis, he is joined by two other 'heroes' who choose, for no real reason, to help him save the day (What are they supposed to do? They're super heroes!) This game, the first of five in a series, leaves you asking the big questions, for instance,: How is Astroboy supposed to rescue 364 children when you can only put 36 NPCs on a map?

A humorous game is a fun game. (Well, sometimes this is true.) The story is not "Shakespeare", but it is "The Marx Brothers", if you will. The game is filled with consistently solid jokes including the infamous "all the Monkees had lockers" monologue. The gameplay was solid, yet occasionally too easy. For instance, I beat one of the bosses before he was able to move. Okay, it was only that one guy who was too easy. The music tracks were OHR classics that were nicely selected for the locations. The game also included some nice extra features like badly drawn pictures of all the characters, and an interesting (and well done) "Secret Photo" of James Paige casting what is called "UltimaBubble".

Unfortunately, there were some low points to this game as well. The graphics showed effort, but were still pretty bad (shades of my game!). The items were too weak for their own good. (Sorry, the item.) It only healed about 150% of the damage done in a normal attack. There was also a dungeon near the end which didn't have any enemies in it. (That kind of thing really ticks me off.)
Final Scores
Graphics: 4/10.0
The author tried, and, well, failed. They really aren't that bad.
Storyline: 7.5/10.0
The storyline is very well written and hilarious. It has no socially redeeming values, but who cares?
Gameplay: 5.5/10.0
The gameplay has some flaws, but it's not at frustrating level.
Music: 6/10.0
OHR style, baby!
Overall Grade: B-
Final Thoughts
This game is quite funny, but if you don't "get it" then don't get it (the game). (Short game)
