Them's Fightin' Words
    "Large lizards send cats to kill bugs, film at eleven." The story line of Bugamon Quest never got much past that sentence, but that is acceptable because the demo is quite short. Frankly, this game is really bad, but I am fortunately in one of my better moods today. I think I will be able to avoid screaming in this review.

This paragraph lists the good things about this game. The music was not ripped. (It was from the music included with the engine.) Also there was, in fact, a title screen. That is all.

You probably know from the relative length of paragraph two that this paragraph is not going to be pretty. The graphics were poor, but not blinding (You have to remember I'm a lot more tolerant then some of you on this, because I can't draw.) The artist's rudimentary understanding of shading manifested itself by covering a quarter of the walkabouts in black. There were only a handful of map tiles in the entire game (not that & was bad). The storyline was advanced several times, but I never understood exactly what was meant. "The planet was being destroyed in some way, so they had to rebuild the teleporter... I think." "What teleporter?" "I don't know." (conversation with self) The gameplay was severely hindered by over usage of absorb bitsets and the Hits stat. (Hits stat that makes you hit more than one time... sometimes.) The first boss battle always went like this: Battle starts. Boss attacks, 22, 23, 26, 19 hits, character one (of two) is dead. I attack, 12, 9, 11, 8 hits. Boss attacks, +1 , +1 , +1 , +1 , +1 , +1 , +1 , +1 , +1 , +1 , +1 , +1... the battle stops due to stack overflow. I use "ctrl, alt, del" while grimacing to myself. (I never got past this battle) There are many other simple problems like passability failure, a vehicle that doesn't have a location tag (leaving you stranded on an island), only one battle animation frame for each character (which causes the infamous blinking character fault), and treasure chests which use the same NPC (they all disappear when you get one).

Graphics: 2/10.0
The graphics are poor and few.
Storyline: 5/10.0
The storyline is hard to understand. It might have been good, but I can't tell.
Gameplay: 1/10.0
The gameplay is really destroyed by the use of absorb and (multi)hits.
Music: 3/10.0
The music is classic OHR, but really the "Flight of the Valkeries (sp) " is not usually appropriate for the main characters house.
Overall Grade: F-
Final Thoughts
    Overall this game is really bad, really bad. It needs a lot of work. (Fortunately, less than one hour. Also the instructions are in MS Word)
