Review # 64 for Iceman
Them's Fightin' Words
The Rise of the Dragon Slayers has an interesting storyline. Basically, a very brief summation of the story is that dragons and humans lived harmoniously together and dragons were particularly important, but some people decided to take it apon themselves to go around slaying them, which caused the dragons to go into hiding and brought calamity apon the world, like the obvious darkness shrouding the world. The grammar is a little lacking in a few spots, but still the dialogue is fairly well written.

The first thing I noticed about the game was its graphics. The Rise of the Dragon Slayers has among the best OHRRPGCE graphics I have yet seen, in the map tiles, the walkabouts, the backdrops, and in the hero and enemy graphics. A minor fault is in the walkabouts, though, as all they do when going from one frame to the other is mirror. They don't swing their legs or arms as they walk, really, but rather basically kind of shuffle. Again, that is a minor issue and also one that could be easily changed.

The music was, in my opinion, the worst area. Early into the game, once I stepped out of my own house, my ears were attacked by shrill noises that were the instruments of choice for the tune. Overall, the music was a downside, although could probably be well improved if the instruments were somehow changed.

The gameplay seemed to make a good, solid RPG, though the game seemed a bit on the easy side. However, I must note that ease does not necessarily make a bad game, or even detract from it. I can't think of anything especially noteworthy about gameplay, but it was good quality RPGing.
Final Scores
Graphics: 9.5/10.0
The only minus I really found in graphics is the shuffle of walkabouts due to a lazy mirroring of the characters. Other than that, the graphics were among the best I've seen.
Storyline: 9/10.0
This game sports a good, sound storyline.
Gameplay: 10/10.0
The gameplay didn't seem out of the ordinary, but I still very much enjoyed it.
Music: 4/10.0
Serious penalty goes to irritating instrumentals. I think the music may actually have been pretty good if it did not come out so annoying.
Overall Grade: A+
Final Thoughts
Overall, I'd say we've got a real winner on our hands, here.
