Review # 3 for sephy99
Them's Fightin' Words
I would like to start off by saying that I have seen Sailor Moon. I don't really feel it is one of the best anime series out there, but it isn't terrible either. Now, with that being said you sorta get an idea of where I'm comming from. So, on with the review.

As the title states, this is a Sailor Moon fan game. It all begins when Serena (the normal girl form of Sailor Moon) is walking trough the woods. Then, out of the dark woods, a giant sheep of doom hops out. Well, maybe it isn't that dramatic, but the sheep comes out of the woods all happy and such. Then Serena, being the happy girl she is, decides to pet the little sheep. However, this is no ordinary sheep my friends... this is the DEVIL'S SHEEP!!! In other words, the sheep turns in to a demon called a youma (I forget if that's the correct way to spell it.) So, Serena turns into Sailor Moon and sends the sheep back to where it belongs. Thus, the story slowly unfolds leaving the evil Queen Beryl in the center of this wicked plot to kill the Sailor Scouts.

Now, you are probably saying "WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH THIS GAME!!??" The reason being is because I would have thought the same thing. However, this is actually something that would happen in the world of Sailor Moon (and like I said, I have seen the show... I would know) So, I give Moon Buggie a clap there for actually sticking to the Sailor Moon wackyness. But enough of the story... lets move on to graphics.

First, the forest you start off in has good graphics. Now, keep in mind that good is not great, but they really are not bad either. In fact, I was very surprised at the level the graphics were at for what I am assuming is Moon Buggies first game. The towns look like towns, and the caves look like caves. That is really the most of what I can say about maptiles. However, there are still battle graphics. Lets start with heros shall we? Well, all the sailor scouts are ripped from Sailor Moon: Another Story for the Super Famicon (Yes... I have played it... and actually like it!) However, don't get me wrong... when I say ripped I don't mean look the exact same and bad palleted... (Is that a word?) Moon Buggie put some effort in changing the original graphics. I actually have to say that it was a smart move on his part... because I would have counted off big time if he hadn't have tried to alter them in some way. The enemies vary from one ripped enemy from SM:AS (with the worst pallete I have ever seen) and the rest being decent looking, original people. All-in-all... I'd say the graphics were good.

As far as music goes... the normal ripped stuff, but fits well. That is really all there is to say about music. I didn't have any problem with it, other than the annoying town music.

The story take several aspects of Sailor Moon and mixes them together to make a pretty enjoyable experience. I have to say that I did enjoy the Beryl chase scene... and I also liked how the entire transformation sequence was put together so well (how in the world he did it I will never know.) Really, I enjoyed the story... so kudos to Moon Buggie.

The gameplay aspect was not bad at all. With that said I'm going to devote the rest of this paragraph to a few bugs that hindered the gameplay a bit. First, in the shrine, the door at the top of the second room (with the candles) leads back to the forest. Second, the sequence in the store room (with the path going mysteriously to the train) is usuable more than once... so I accedentally faught the same enemy twice. Third, the boat in the cave area... (this one hurt me big time...) well... when I went to hit the switch to remove the rock, I saved on the platform with the switch. However, when I got stuck (litterally... I was just stuck on this dock) and I opened up the save... the boat was back at its original spot and I was stranded on the plat form. Well... I'm sure you can fix these up pretty well... and none of th
Final Scores
Graphics: 7/10.0
Good for a first time, not great but good. Some ripped.
Storyline: 8.5/10.0
This game kept to the Sailor Moon roots... so there is nothing to complain about (but something a little original would have been nice)
Gameplay: 8.5/10.0
Despite the bugs... I can't really complain. It was fun.
Music: 8.5/10.0
Not bad... just change that annoying town music.
Overall Grade: B
Final Thoughts
It takes everything... and even some things that shouldn't have been taken (like graphics) But it is still enjoyable... and if you have seen Sailor Moon then it makes it better.
