Them's Fightin'

This review is for an older version of the game
When I downloaded the game, I thought it would be about drinking. But now that I've played far enough into it, I realize I was mistaken. The game steals quite a few ideas out of Pokemon, most obviously 8 Gym Leaders to find and defeat so you can go to the Champaign Championships. That's about as much plot as there is.
Maybe the plot wouldn't be too bad, but the graphics make the game nearly unbearable.Everything is flat, walkabouts, heroes, maptiles, everything. I thought it was hard to tell the difference between the floor and the walls. I'm not %100 sure, but the hero graphics look familliar, especially Nathan's.
The music was almost entirely ripped, with lots of it taken from Pokemon. He used it fairly well, but it definitely would've been better if it were original. After awhile, I turned my speakers off.
The battles are either too easy or too hard, and you can run away from practically all of them. Although I did face a boss, and I had a heart attack when it popped up "Cannot Run!". You can use the debug keys too. His directions were very confusing. A sign said "Go to the gym near Route 5!" When I found route 5, there was no gym in sight, and finally after two hours of wandering aimlessly I found it.
All in all, I found the game boring, and the plot pointless. Character's joined for no other reason but "Kevin, is that you?" "Oh, it's you Martha, I'll come with you guys!". I will give him credit for making the game so long though, it actually could be as long as a professional RPG.

Final Scores
|
Graphics: 2.5/10.0 |
Some of them were ripped from Final Fantasy 1, the other's weren't that great.
|
Storyline: 2/10.0
|
The Guro Volcano and quite a few items were taken from Final Fantasy 1, and other plot points (the 8 gyms, the Blackards being Team Rocket rip-offs) were taken from Pokemon. |
Gameplay: 3/10.0 |
Sure, it's fun to wander around fighting, but it gets old fast.
|
Music: 2/10.0
|
Also ripped, but it was used appropiately, I guess. |
Overall Grade:
F+ |

If the graphics were better, and the plot didn't borrow so much from other games, it would've been much better. |
