Introduction, September 2000 (Issue #1)

This is the premier issue of Ohrrpgce Monthly, which is a monthly publication about Ohrrgpce games (and only Ohrrpgce games).

This month in Ohrrpgce news: there was a partner based 48 hour game creation contest, which I entered. RPGonline was updated (this doesn't happen too often, you know), Ohr Otaku re-launched, then shut donw again... a new message board dedicated to the Ohrrpgce, the RPGACE, and the RPGDTE opened up (...more people should go there, it is too empty as it stands), and the Golden Hamster Awards took place.

Remember, this is everyone's magazine too. The more previews you submit, the better it will be. The more you vote in the top30, the better it will be. And if you want to send in letters, maybe I could open up a letter section... all good gaming magazines have a letters section, right? So if you feel you have something to say, or just have a comment or suggestion about the magazine, write an email (with the subject as 'Ohrrpgce Monthly' so I'll know what it is for), and if I get enough (say, more than 4) I'll open up a letters section next issue.

Finally, acknowledgments go to J'sang'spar, who drew the cover, to HuckdOnFonix, who agreed to an interview and is hosting this magazine on RPGonline, to Namyak, who organized the release dates for me, and to the Meajur Komera Waddi, who not only agreed to let me feature her game, but generously supplied character drawings and descriptions for the feature. Thank you all!

-Rinku/Rydia/Raft/Rell

P.S. I originally released this issue in the beginning of september, but various errors were found... and this is the second edition of the first issue. Not much has changed, but I did fix the errors, and did seperate the feature into different pages for faster loading.

Contents

Since this is the first issue I may as well give you a summary of how this magazine works.

Cover - Each month will have a new cover. What is the purpose of a strictly online magazine having a cover? Nostalgia maybe... and it just doesn't feel like a real magazine without a cover. Each mont the cover is related to that month's featured game (in this case Wingedmene) This month's cover was done by J'sang'spar, aka Abiogeneticist, aka Duke Togo aka Togo Duke.

Contents - This page. Each month will contain information about the contents of that month's issue, and other information... news and so forth.

Previews - Contains short previews of upcoming games. This month: Rat Race Radar RPG and Saga of the Mystics.

Feature - Coverage of one game in detail. Each month will have a different game covered, unless of course I need to do multi-part reviews (for long games). This month is the Wingedmene: Part One May 15th 2000 demo. Writing this was not as easy as I thought... even though I had the advantage of working on the game.

Releases - Coverage of the last month's ohrrpgce game releases, basically just lists the game, with a little description, and where you can get it (if known), etc. Most of this month's releases were released for the 48 hour game contest, and so this month's release section is mostly about those games. I don't rate games (I leave that to RPGonline), but I do give the pros and cons of each.

Top 30 - Voting is held on the main ohrrpgce message board each month. Participants choose their favorite 10 games, in order, although less may be chosen, the number of games listed must be at least five. The first game given by each person is given 10 points, the second game 9 points, and so on. Then we look at which games are popular and which are not. Starting next month, I'll begin to count how many months a game has been on the charts.

Release Date Calendar - This is where you can see anticipated release dates for different games, listed by season. More will be added as they are announced.

Interview - Each month, I'll interview a different ohrrpgce game author. This month I interviewed HuckdOnFonix, the owner/operator of RPGonline (where this magazine located).
