More previews than expected this month, more than twice as much as last month. Thank you to everyone who sent them in.

If you want a preview of your game, email me the game and some info (special features it will have, who the authors are, what is the game's history, anything about how the game is expected to be when it is finished).

Send me games to preview please... only 33% of those who say they'll send me their game actually do!

Zodiac Saga

Zodiac Saga may not look like much from the screenshots... most of the graphics are nes quality, and some are ripped (by the author's own admission). The music is also currently mostly ripped. Both the ripped graphics and music should be replaced by original stuff by the first release, however. The story, which is this game's greatest strength, has roots in the Arthurian legends, which should make the game popular with fans of that genre when it is released. To me, it seems like Zodiac Saga has the hard half of game design down pretty well (story design and gameplay design), but lacks in the easy parts (graphics, music). It will be interesting to see where this game goes.

Zodiac Saga is being created by Espirius/Platinum Foilage, and has an unspecified release date.

Way of the Wizard

After playing Tremor, I didn't think another Ohrrpgce game with such originality would be seen for awhile. I was wrong. Way of the Wizard is very unique. There are no battles in the traditional 'battle mode': everything is handled via plotscripting, with your HP indicator down at the bottom of the screen. Pressing 'B' shoots a blast of energy at an enemy. Pressing 'T' transforms you into a bat. Pressing 'C' cures you. When you hit a skeleton with a blast, it crumbles, a la the Zelda3 Stalfos. While the game doesn't have a concrete story yet, or exceptionally good graphics, it has the feeling you get from a good Zelda game.

Way of the Wizard is being made by Adam Perry (Moogle1, I'm guessing?), Kevin Johnson (Shaede Reshka, I'm guessing?), and others, maybe even me.

Duck and MJ 2

Duck and MJ 2 is the sequel to Duck and MJ. According to the author (JSH357) there will be a class change system, eight characters with seven forms each, with the player having opportunity to decide how each character will change.

EDO

If you don't already know from the screenshots, EDO is a RPG based in historical Japan. The game involves a boy named Date and his dog (named Inu (which means dog)) who begin an adventure in which they attempt to destroy a powerful sword (Masamune) in the flames of Mt. Fuji. Sounds sort of like Lord of the Rings in ancient Japan, doesn't it?

EDO is being authored by Byako, and has a tentative release date of mid to late November.

Peter S. Beagle's The Last Unicorn

Based on both the wonderful movie and the even better novel, Peter S. Beagle's The Last Unicorn is a fan game, being made by Rinku/Rydia/Raft/Rell (and whoever else decides to help me...). As you can see, it uses a ton of stills and clips from the anime. Keep in mind this game, along with The Legend of Zelda: Millennial Edition, is a non-profit fan game, similar in concept to fan fiction or fan art, and is not meant for material profit of any kind. I will try to keep to the original story and feel as much as possible, although I will keep more to the book than to the movie.

The release date is unknown, but don't expect it anytime before 2001.
