Dr. Shizuma is the author or co-author of the games Spellshard: The Black Crown of Horgoth and Aquarius. He is also a famous Ascii-artist, and has contributed a great deal of Ohrrpgce-game fan-art to Septaweekly.
The revised Time Flies (TF) starts much like previous versions of TF, Your hero "Zack" is a youth with a thirst for adventure, Trained with his buddy Kento by a mysterious shrouded man, he is betrayed and sent through a portal to an other time. The flow of the story is simple enough, and it's nothing you are going to be thinking about into the long hours of the night, however this is a comedic and lighthearted game for the most part, and the flow and execution is well done. To know TF is to know it's been under constant revisions, the author
of the game has revised the game several times, In this version it shows,
with some graphics that are very well-drawn and others that are very poorly
drawn. Some map tiles look like they were drawn by a different person.
Although PK Fortis has tried to steer the game away from it's Final
Fantasy Parody roots, the story still seems scene to scene directly
inspired from some Square RPG, this is good in ways however, as it provides
much comedic content.
TF has some very good qualities that set it apart from other OHRRPGCE attempts: one is ambient music, the town at night has the sound of crickets, the beach has the sound of the waves. Another excellent quality is the animation, on maps and battles it is very fluid and fun to watch. Lastly is the battle system, it has a fair amount of challenge and each spell carries unique traits depending on the battle and who you are facing, monsters appear on the map, and there is a good flashing animation before you engage in combat. All these things, and the sense of humor of the dialogue make Time Flies above-average. Graphics: Good, but sometimes uneven. Animation is excellent. Sound: Fitting, but not original. Good ambient sound. Gameplay: Exciting, challenging and well thought-out. Story: Average, the parody of various Square RPG's is awkward yet funny. Overall: Download this game, it's a fun 30 minutes.
