I'm going to be reviewing one site per issue from now on, and calling the column "Site of the Issue" (okay, if you can think of a better name for it, email me).
Let us cut to the chase: http://www.the-underdogs.org/index.php is by far the best game download site I've ever seen. Just to give you a sample of how complete this site is, it has: * games organized by the year that they were released (1979 to 2002)
I found it yesterday while looking for the location of the Dos versions of Chris Crawford's games (it has his games Balance of Power, Balance of the Planet, and the Legend of Siboot, among others). Within moments, Charbile was proclaiming the sites marvelousness and Hachi-Roku was jumping around like a kid in a candy store. Be warned, though: if you try to download two games at once, it will automatically ban you. And it has a huge number of pop-up ads. But those are inconsequentials next to the great value this site holds. (see the appendix to this article) (leave Reasonably Septaweekly and go to The Underdogs) |
