I wanted to wait to make a new development thread until I had some nice screenshots to include, but instead all I've been doing is working on music, and re-doing hundreds of message boxes to allow for the character portraits.
I did do a few graphic things, like new NPC w-abouts, but nothing really screenshot worthy.
Still, I've been working hard on the local gods when I could, and 2 things are now abundantly clear:
A) My dang game is NOT going to be finished in two weeks.
B) Although I've made great strides since my last uploaded version, it's almost all things related to the newest version of custom.exe, and therefore not immediately apparent. I've got 2 new dungeons, 1 new town, and many new NPC's, but it's still not enough to warrant a vast improvement.
Not yet.
We'll see though, I've still got two more weeks! _________________ 'I imagine that imagination is more important than knowledge, but I don't know.' |

I'm going to submit my game for the contest later today, in spite of the fact that it didn't get finished. Since my last pitiful update, I've been in the process of trying to salvage my old computer for most of the time. Then I was in the process of getting the 'new' computer up and running. I also spent WAY too long trying to figure something out that I really should have saved for last.
Still, no excuses. I fail.
I TRIED, but I failed.
I guess I should look on the bright side. I mean, I DID get a lot of work done on the game, although it's mostly stuff people won't even notice, like I said before. _________________ 'I imagine that imagination is more important than knowledge, but I don't know.' |

...You sound like you need a hug.
*hug*
I had a similar experience with the Terrible Games contest. You don't have to give up on the game just because you missed the deadline. Don't let it get you down, ja? _________________ "I think civility flew out the window the second I found the lawnmower. With dignity and humanity splattered on the walls." |

Aww, you're a sweetie.
I'm actually debating whether or not to even waste anyone's time by submitting what I've been working on, but that strikes me as very rude after declaring that I was going to enter.
Computer problems, work/family/relationship problems, and a host of other factors have kept me from working as much as I would have liked, and like I said before nearly 100% of the hours spent on the game have been trying to finish the changes I'd started to make after the new version of the OHR came out. ...And it's ALL stuff that you hardly notice when playing the game. Those damn message boxes were the worst, trying to get them all transferred to use the portrait, rather than the modified splash screens I'd made.
Another thing that took up a lot of time was the world map, which I re-made and re-made parts of. I didn't even get to the parts of the game where you even SEE those, mostly.
All-in-all, I planned this thing out really badly. I was going for "complete game", when I should have gone for "finish as much as you can as you go."
So should I still submit what I have? Right now I'm feeling pretty bad, and that the game is pretty bad, and that it's pointless. _________________ 'I imagine that imagination is more important than knowledge, but I don't know.' |

That describes ALL of my games.
Well, I wouldn't worry about being rude or disappointing folks--there are all sorts of reasons why a person might not finish a contest game, and everyone has been there before so they'd understand.
If your game has a fair amount of playable content, go ahead and submit it as a demo, otherwise I would not sweat it if I were you. It sounds like the work you did on it is the kind that most won't notice in an unfinished game but will make it shine when it's done, so don't feel bad about it. It would need to be done anyway, you just did it in a different order. _________________ "I think civility flew out the window the second I found the lawnmower.
