Screenshot Time!
Shows Bob the hamster and kyle, the two characters that will be in the demo. The 3 different types of platform are the three levels not from any game (dont worry, the actual levels will be much different, this is just for testing)
In super smash brothers, there was always final destination and battlefield, the two original levels. I will have final destination, battlefield, and a unlockable level, to be named later.
remember to send in those sprites! im currently trying to decide if it is a little to conceited to include one of my own characters in the game! haha _________________ Resident Evil RPG Demo

Quote: | I am thinking about making the character select use the mouse, like in all the super smash brothers games, where you grab the coin and drag it to your character. |
You could make your character sprite the P1/p2 glove, then have it switch to seperate grab sprite when you "step on" the coin. |

Now in Blue, Stone, and Brick flavor!
But really, do the block types have any impact on gameplay? It looks like you could jump or pass through the Blue flavor blocks, but none of the others. |

well all of them are the same thing, actually. lol. The thin ones above the main platform you can jump through from the bottom. And all the other ones are just impassable. They are just to give the levels different looks. I think for the blue one, im just going to remove the gradient background and make it a cool kind of starburst effect on black, like final destination _________________ Resident Evil RPG Demo

if you want to use my character olmin in your game, i should tell you alittle about him.
he uses slow, long range attacks and is strong to missles. hes also a pro-jumper, the master of double jumping, but slow on the ground.
character-wise hes very bold and rude, but means good in the end - as long as theres fish involved
I'll have to think of what a good special move for him would be, but it would likely be his smelly fish breath. |

That kind of thing happened to me when I accidentally submitted a .bmp for the screenshot.
I have an account on runescape, but i don't really play it. The game got boring after I finished all the quests. It has almost the same name as the old account I mentioned in my journal. |

ooh yea when i first tried to submit my first game, i did that. And made multiple other mistakes that craeted two blank game submissions. lol but hey got deleted. And i finished all the quests too, except i think that dragon slayer was removed. And now there is no way for me to ever wear the rune plate. =( But i was playing Arcanists, another incredible game by jagex, and u can actually use ur runescape login to play it. I met this guy and he asked me if i play runescape. I said yes, and he gave me a lvl 61 account. so it made me very happy. haha
Anyway, im trying for the third time to post the description of this game.
It's like one of the old school type rpgs, where the entire game is spent exploring a massive dungeon, with the one town above it, to which you gate scroll back and forth to empty your inventory. The game starts with a very incredibly cliche legend of a dungeon with a treasure at the bottom that only a true champion can obtain. You start in the town, with only a random elemental scroll, (more on scrolls later) enough gold to buy either a wooden staff, wooden sword, or wooden bow, and a dream of finally going from a no name fighter from a small town, to a legendary hero.
The basic idea is very simple. Advance through the dungeon, fighting enemies and finding treasure, teleporting back and forth from town with items called gate scrolls, and trying to reach the 50th floor. (or 100th floor if i feel 50 isnt enough) The battles are done in standard OHR style, but with a few twists:
-You use scrolls to use spells. These spells are only in your battle menu while the scroll is equipped. While a spell is equipped, you gain SpellExp whenever the spell is used. Once SpellExp reaches 25 (or 50, i have yet to decide) then the spell gains a level. The spell becomes more powerful when it levels up. Once level 3 is attained, then you permanently learn the Level 2 version in your spell menu. If the scroll is unequipped, the SpellExp is lost. However, the Spell's level stays the same.
-After battle, you get more than just the two different items per enemie allowed by the OHRRPGCE. It runs a script that randomly selects an item based on rarity and what enemies you defeated. This allows much more variety in items.
-a lot of items allow use of a special attack. Some items even summon a companion to help you in battle. Some special attacks go very well together, while some nearly negate each other.
-Instead of the standard walk around for hours and kill and kill and kill and kill to keep your level high enough for the enemies to be beatable, there is a trainer up in town. It costs gold, but he raises one of the stats of your choice. Each time you go to him, he charges more and more. This means if you try to make the character a good archer, knight, and mage, then he will have terrible stats and fail at life! However, if you focus on strength and defense or magic and will, etc. then you will have a easy time. If you find the game too easy, then you can try to make a swordmage or something with more variety. It also increases the replayability.
Most things in the game are randomized, like the items you get or what chests give you. Even the shops are randomized throughout the game. One of the few things that arent random are the passageways within the dungeon, but that is merely because i dont have the slightest idea how. The main thing i tried to achieve with this game was replayability, and i think i did a pretty good job.
Screenshots will be posted as soon as i take them, but who knows when that will be. lol.
haha it logged me out when i tried to post it again, but i was smart. I copied and pasted it. _________________ Resident Evil RPG Demo
