The hypocrisy continues. You've made several contradictory comments just tonight. You talk about freedom of speech and then delete posts you don't like. You say "if you don't like a thread then don't read it" but read and even reply to this thread which you clearly don't like. Just throw Hatzi in here so we can have the goddamned whole of LOME and be done with it.
Let's see if I can't turn this back to an actual discussion rather than the flame-rebuttal-flame-rebuttal form it's seemingly adopted.
Now, I would say something about my idealism and how I want freedom of speech to work without having to limit the subjects spoken on, but Linkmax is an argument against any point I'd bring up.
Basically, what I think is the dearest compromise is for LOME to keep it's shit on its own dinner table, rather than having to share it with the rest of us. We have LOME, we have CP. If we can filter some of it out of CP and back to LOME, we might have a half-respectable community going here again. |

I agree with the PHC-man; IM as well. (Though, IM, I would rather slow posting, than a lot of posting akin to what we're reading here.)
PHC, you do make valuable points; unfortunately, I don't think there enough intelligent people existing in the world to make a place like this the semi-utopia it could be. I, for one, feel like doing a little more posting than usual. You can at least count on something more engaging than I Like Cheese.
However, if we're to respect freedom of speech, we can't lash out at everybody who makes pointless posts. I do think it is simply more productive, though perhaps more passively-aggressive, if we put energy into posting and replying to, worthwhile threads. It's like having a 4 year old kid. You might scorn him for stealing cookies from your cabinet, but if he's constantly silly, you can't scorn him for every sillines, or he\she gets defiant, and keeps being overly silly to spite you.

I can agree.
Perhaps we should beg IM to put in a feature to block certain users' threads from your sight. Although it would be preferable for everyone to just be productive, and perhaps even preferable not to exclude anybody from anyone's sight, it may be the only easy answer.
