I really like the idea to be honest, it reminds me of rogue-likes and Ehrgiez, (I did mean to post this before but it got deleted due to me forgeting to set my login to log me in uppon entry mode :S) anyway, I really look foward to playing this thing, and it sounds to be a really good game, I always loved randomised stuff in RPGs |

What? I havent posted any screenshots! How atrocious!
Left is potion shop, middle is magic shop, right is armor shop
the higher building is obviously the bow/arrow shop.
Lower is a large building of no use yet. I am thinking about ddaing a sidequest where you receive your ultimate weapon, and which one you get is based on your stats, high strength gives you the sword, high aim gives you the bow, and high magic gives you the staff.
The entrance to the dungeon. I want to give the pillars a more rugged look, its on the to do list.
All in all, my graphics are okay, but im hoping o add a bit more detail to them _________________ Resident Evil RPG Demo

Something about that grass tile is just odd. When I look closely, it's a nice, well-done grass tile, and from afar it just doesn't stick.
I think it's the transitions. Make little blades of grass brush up against the buildings and maybe add a distinct "edge" to your roads. That should fix it.
Same deal for your building tiles. It's a good wood texture, but the buildings lack structure. They actually look more appropriate as bridge tiles, being stacks of logs. I'm not sure how to fix this one - I'm a stone, brick, and mortar building guy myself - maybe just find more wood-building references.
One thing I do like is that I can actually tell which shop is which. I had a huge problem with signs when working on some early Viridia tilesets. This is clear as day. |

hmm i did the edge on the road/path tiles so that it would look like the blades of grass were going up on it. Maybe the road/path needs to be darker? i remember from multiple pixel art tutorials that darkness makes it look lower. and yea i think i will try to make the grass go up the side of the buildings a bit. It will only take one more tile, so it wont be too hard. and maybe with the buildings i could just add the logs at the edge that go perpendicular? like from the other side. Btw, i know you cant see this from a screenshot, but the chimney is animated with puffs of smoke. _________________ Resident Evil RPG Demo

You're missing my point. When I say "edge" and I apply it to a road, I'm talking about the road's structure.
Most roads - cobblestone from the looks of yours - are built with a border of some kind to keep it intact, or even just to make it look straighter for the sake of the navigator. Here's some random examples:
-Lines of slightly raised stones
-Small ruts dug out from under the road edge
-Sidewalks of some size
-Framed with a different material, i.e. wood
But even without a border, a stone road works if it looks a little random and uneven. Can even have little pebbles strewn about for a little more realism.
Nitpicky? Probably. But little details like this (I mean little) never fail to add to a game's style and charm. |

Hmm i get it haha. yea ill definitly fix up the path, the little details are always important.Ill probly make all the stones end and put the edging thats around all the other stones at the edges. And im going to add some sort of texture, these graphics are mainly just temporary, till i make better ones. And i have been kinda lazy with smash OHR haha i have been focusing mostly on this. My biggest issue wuth smash ohr is the attacks. I was putting the attacks in the basic loop, but i forgot that the rest of the attack is played through before the sidescrolling resumes. I was only testing 1p, so i didnt notice the attacks freezing everything else. It wont take long to fix. _________________ Resident Evil RPG Demo

The hell? HOW IS THIS NOT GRAPHICK ARTS
I mean, in here, you're actively learning pixel art techniques!
I'll do battle with the problems of modern art education later. |
