I like it. The somewhat hand-drawn look of the backdrop is cool and different. The sprites are also quite good, though the Ranger's eyes have poor contrast with his skin. It's not terrible, surely, but it could be better.
Was it intentional that Knight's hair look so much like Fry's?

The ranger and the slime king both seem to blend into the background a little bit. It may just be the size of the image (and the fact that my eyes are old and bent). I love the slime king! His left leg looks a little odd though... I think it's because it's larger than the right but is farther away. Other than that this looks great.

This is just temporary, but noted on Ranger.

I can't claim to have intentionally done it. Originally his hair was meant to parody Cloud's (in terms of silliness and height), but I think a bit of Fry snuck in there.
Re: Ranger's eyes: noted. I think I'll darken them up a bit.
