Roleplaying Game (and SRPGs, but they weren't on the list)

6 Tell me three reasons, why do you play that sort of game?

1. Open-endedness. You can apply your own silly rules to these kinds of games and they often make the experience more personal.
2. High quality/production. There are more good RPGs than good platformers.
3. Battles are like puzzles. There's almost a science behind preparation, examining the enemy, preparing for random occurences, etc.

I'm interested in why you chose a site for game developers and not gamers? This is just my opinion, but I think game developers have a different perspective on gaming that might pollute your results a little.

This was a hard question, especially when it has such genres as "Arcade" which just seem nonsensical to me. I guess if I had to choose though, I would say:

This is pretty much a guess.
30-60 minutes

6 Tell me three reasons, why do you play that sort of game?
a) I like their slow pace (referring to turn-based strategy, I hardly play real time) cause it lets me do other things at the same time and it helps me relax.
b) I like their typical nonlinearity.
c) Successful conquest through proper strategy is very satisfying. It's rather like completing a difficult puzzle.

1. Broadness of the genre, that can require different types of thinking. Aces of the Pacific requires a sort of combat type thinking, where as MS Flight Sim 98 mostly is just thinking of fun things to do, figuring out fuel loads and navigational problems. Finally there's Orbiter, which requires some math and thought to even get your spaceship moving in the right direction, and not come plummeting into the atmosphere.

2. Always wanted to be a pilot.

3. I saw Top Gun. 'nuff said.

~I like a break between jobs.
~I love conquering a game, because I feel like I have accomplished a chapter of life that I do not need to revisit ever again (a "one down, only one million to go" feeling), which is very satisfying.
~I enjoy learning all about a game and sharing with others.
