It's probably good that your mother let you know this.
Your father needs to do what he did to attract your mother in the first place. I don't know what your father is like, or if he'll take advice from his son or anyone else, but he needs to remember the beast that he was when your mother and him fell in love. 
We men tend to lose our mojo after so many years of being married. Certain women never grow to accept this, and want a mate who can keep their attraction, which might be one of the biggest problems that causes devource (heaven forbid that happens). When you get the chance, you can talk to your dad and ask him how he and your mother met. Find out what he did to attract her and ask if he still does that. If you ask me, you're lucky they are still married at your age. You are smart enough, charismatic enough that you might have a chance to stop somthing bad, if you feel inclined, if you aren't too late (one never knows if they are too late until it happens).
The worse stuff happens to important people, Ryan. You ask any big and important person, and I bet their road was not straight and easy. If something screws up, it will balance it's self out in the end. There is always balance in the universe. Patience is the tool to capture the good that balances the bad.
Sorry to hear this. And I hope you can still have a happy birthday amidst all this.
