Hell, the game journal feature is here, so I may as well use it.
Thanks to CN's review, I will continue work on Achilles Oasis. Playing through the game you can tell, painfully, that it is a contest entry. Due to having only 48 hours to make it in I didn't get everything the way I wanted. Basically, I intended to use Achiles Oasis to lauch the 'Achilles Heel' idea. This means, as you may have guessed, that a longer, better sequel is in the works. Befrore I start that however I intend to Achilles oasis a lot more enjoyable. The things I need to work on are:
1. Fix that looping text box at the end. SOme things in the game were not tested. The ending was one such thing.
2. Improve graphics. It must be said that drawing is not my strong suit. However I have improved a lot from my original projects. This wil take the most time.
3. Improve the story. As it is, the story is only a skeleton of what it can should be. I wil also extend the story to incluse the lever and box puzzles, as well as make these more challenging.
4. Revamp the battle system. In the beginning, each monster was going to be made of individual components. It would work by using the 'die without boss' bitset. One part would be the boss. At regular intervals, Red sparks would emit from the 'weak point', hinting the player to hit there. This was scrapped for the contest as it would take a lot of time to draw each part, balance the speeds and moves, and make the thing look goot at the same time. The cheif way I thought of going it was this: have an invisible component attacking the player, while the boss component would only use the spark attack on itself.
If you havn't played the game, try it, then leave some suggestions as to how I can improve it |
