Please do feel free to "buzz" anyone you catch breaking a rule, even if you are not actually playing.

Game Rules wrote:
You will be buzzed if
1. You ail to post your rule in time.
2. You break any rule/penalty rule or your own rule in the given round.
3. You play out of turn. (changed to zap)
4. You post more than just your rule in the same post
5. You edit or delete a post with a rule in it.
6. You fail to provide a plain-English interpretation if asked.
7. You post a rule that requires special knowledge.

You will be zapped and forced to post a penalty rule if
Z1. You post a rule that cannot be fairly buzzed or allowed.
Z2. Your rule does not ban or require something new.
Z3. You post a rule that bans multipul unrelated things

1. All rules must be posted within 72 hours of the last judgment or rule posted. An entire weekend will count as one day. The deadline will be rounded up to the nearest hour.
If there is a reason worthy of an time extension, tell me before the deadline expires. Time will also be flexible around holidays and breaks (no, Ground Hogs day isn’t a holiday). I will try to PM a reminder when you have about 24 hours left.

2.Your rule must follow itself and all the previous rules in that round. Your rule must also ban or require something.

After player is buzzed, that player is thrown out, all rules are declared invalid, and a new round begins: the next player in line posts the new Rule #1.

A player who posts a rule after the invalid one, but before the invalid one is buzzed, will not be penalized. However, that player's rule (along with the previous ones) will be voided when the new round begins.

3. Players must go in the order in which they are listed. I'll try to keep the current "on deck" player in the thread title whenever I get a chance to update (good idea groza!) This should be once a day.

4. Put only your rule in a post. Double post if you must say something beyond. Please disable signatures (but you won't be penalized if you forget). Everything in your post is subject to all the rules

5. Editing or deleting a post with a rule (except this post!) will result in a buzz. Don’t do it. Use the preview button.

6. Any player may ask for a plain-English interpretation of a rule, if it is reasonable to believe that it is not clear. The clock will be reset once it is provided. Failure to provide one within 72 hours will result in a buzz to the rule maker. Please bold this request. Such a request should be made ASAP.

7. All rules must be clear enough in there task that a normal young adult could followed what must be done. Making a rule that requires all words to be 8 letters long is incredibly hard. However, the task is clear enough that anybody could follow it.
This also extend to “all animals found within your rule must be bolded" because rule makers are not responsible for know the name of every animal in the world.

Z1. Ambiguous rules have caused much trouble in the past. At times it seemed unfair to buzz but at the same unfair the allow. So this time they will be zapped. The poster of a rule that is deemed zappable will be required to 1. post a new rule and 2. post a penalty rule.

Because English is ambiguous by its nature at times, please follow rules as you feel they are intended to be posted.

Z2. Because all rules must ban or require something, a rule that does not clearly ban anything new but follows all the other rules will be zapped.

Z3. If you require someone to post the name of an animal and make it bold, you are technically requiring more than one thing. However, both of these tasks are very closely linked and you will not be zapped. Requiring rule markers to use a primate name, a president’s name, and a brand of booze your rule would not be zapped. (And you could use anybody who had been a “president” at some point of their life.)
But if you wish to require rules to start with an animal and to have one more sentence than the previous rule, you will be zapped because there is no connection between the number of sentences and using an animal.

Penalty rules must follow all the new penalty rules. However, there are no rounds for penalty rules so they will stay throughout the game. I will have the collection of penalty rules kept in the first or second post of the thread. Penalty rules may be buzzed (kicking the player out) or zapped (I will modify it so that it isn’t ambiguous anymore). At the start of the game I will have some penalty rules made up so the first person doesn’t have it easy either.

Zapped rules don’t have to followed. They will be crossed out and marked by the mod.

If a rule is both buzzable and zappable, it will be buzzed.

PUNCTUATION MARKS:
, . ; : ' " - ( ) ! ?
comma, period, semicolon, colon, single quote, double quote, dash, parenthesis, exclamation point, question mark.

SYMBOLS: any non-letter, non-number keystroke.

NUMBERS or DIGITS: 0123456789

ROMAN NUMERALS: I, V, X, L, C, D, M (1, 5, 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000)

VOWELS: A, E, I, O, U are the only vowels. Y and W are never vowels for this game.

“the alphabet” is the English Alphabet and the letters have the following order:
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

Rules may require something off a list. Any list item may be used multiple times.

If you require “one less” (or any real number) of something then after that number reaches zero it will not go into negative numbers.

WORDS: A "word" is a single entry, containing no spaces, in Merriam Webster's 10th Collegiate Dictionary; or one of its inflectional forms (e.g. a plural or past tense); or an entry with the addition of a compatible affix (e.g. "puzzlelike", from "puzzle" and "-like").
1. Typos will not be penalized. (Sorry, I can’t be strict with something I would fail at.)
2. Words from external sources are allowed as long as they are in context.
3. Having rules modify spelling of words is allowed.
4. Complete nonsense “words” like Jztqlbzzyyk will not be tolerated.
5. Merriam Webster’s 10th Collegiate Dictionary will be our source for words. It may be found online at http://www.m-w.com/
Please strive for clarity!

Things like “sentence” will be left undefined for the moment. Actually, most things are left undefined so that rule makers can HAVE FUN!!

Rules Game back when it was carefree?
Did I miss any?

Examples from the past:
Every rule must esrever the letters of yreve fourth word, not gnitnuoc the rule number.
***I could now zap the poorly defined starting place of this rule.

When animal designations, such as "lion" or "bear", show up in your rule, they must be in bold text.
***This rule unfortunately requires rule makers to know every animal listed in the dictionary. Zap. A better rule would be to force players to bold a few animals for this can be done with knowledge of just cats, dogs and lions. And ‘wels’ aren’t in the M-W :-)

All rules must have XX more words, letters, ect than the last post.
***This is completely fine (provided it isn’t the first rule in a round) and I encourage this type of rule because it makes the game get harder each round.

Good rules provide an example if something is in the least amount of doubt.

From the sign-ups: when I said your rule must end in a “Z” that means “Z” must be the last thing you type in your rule. Adding a period or quote afterward would result in a buzz

That's supposed to be in quotes... (edits)

Anyway, the comment about the sign ups was to clarify that type of rule.

E.G.: All rules must end with the letter Q. would be buzzed, but All rules must end with the letter Q. Q or All rules must end with the letter Q would not.

Anywhoo, this is our sign-ups. To play, post a rule.

All ruels have to have at least one missspelling in it.

(Whoohoo! 400 Posts!!)

Also, to clarify, the rules only apply to subsequent rules, not comments about rules or just Buzzes.

Perhaps you did not notice that I spelled "punctuation" with a :boggle: instead of an 'o'. That is a misspelling.

This is true. I don't see how it means I didn't misspell "punctuation."
