PLEASE NOTE: this is largely a joke observation (Jerk Store bait). But it's hilarious and thought-provoking. Help me fill in the list!
Stone Age | Early Years
An era of exploration and experimentation; lots of crappy work, but it will be the building block of what is to come.
Classical Eras | "Classic" Years
The so-called classics, some of them good, some of them just influential. (Homer, Virgil, Sophocles, etc)
Fall of Rome | Fall of Zantetsuken
End of the classical era, essentially (Work with me here).
Rise of Church | Castle Paradox
These events changed the nature of their worlds in many ways.
Dark Ages | Disappearance of veterans
We can all attest to this. Maybe some random great work, but largely a shut-out from the rest of the world.
Chaucer | Surlaw
Someone comes along, writing something great and also fairly humorous. Wildly influential on future writers.
Popularization of body humor | Joke game explosion
People start copying said author, and others start to notice the trend. Various people get annoyed by the trend toward comedy and "less moral" work.
Spenser, Sidney, et al | Heroists et al
The critics speak out and strive for some morality, sometimes producing great works in the process.
Renaissance | Hamsterspeak
A rebirth of interest in the classics and old ways. Some reconstruction of classic ideals, and a surge of new works.
Shakespeare | ???
Arguably the most prolific author (ever?)
Well? Is it coming? |
