Thoughts? I don't see any thoughts.
I got dragged along to it the other day. I hadn't even heard of it, but really didn't like the sound of it from the description. So it was actually much better than I expected. Also I saw it on an enormous IMAX screen. Yay
The ending was such a nice break from the norm. Nothing the protagonists do makes any difference at all! Hurray! _________________ "It is so great it is insanely great." |

Yeah, I've been a big fan ever since a friend insisted I read it, and I thought the movie was fucking awesome. The friend who insisted I read it thought the movie lost a lot of the socio-political commentary, which I guess it did, but the thing that really drew me in, namely the 'realistic' personalities of the superheroes, remained intact.
I was worried that it would go over the heads of a lot of people who hadn't read it, as the movie packs in a whole lot of information, and I couldn't tell if I connected with the characters because the movie did a good job, or because I had already ready the book and therefore already sympathized with them. It's nice to hear someone who came into the movie with no foreknowledge enjoyed it as well. |

I have not seen it yet, though I've been a fan of the book for years. My boyfriend and my best girl friend have though... (not together, of course)
Boyfriend: TOO MUCH BLUE PENIS.
Girl Friend: NOT ENOUGH BLUE PENIS.
Me:
I have heard they got rid of the 'alien' though, and that makes me sad.
Also, boyfriend said that there were people who took their kids to the movie. Like, six-to-twelve-year-olds. SO not a kids movie. Does anyone even really give a damn about ratings anymore? _________________ "I think civility flew out the window the second I found the lawnmower. I thought the only attention paid to ratings were in other movies and media as a plot device for an underage character pretending someone else is their parental unit. |
