Surlaw: "This [the server issues] is unrelated. My host has problems."
He's asked for people to stop sending him donations, largely because some jerks threw a fit when he bought a PSP -- how dare he. _________________

Just got a note from Surlaw saying something similar; I lol'd at the PSP thing.
A lot of web servers have been going down lately due to some HyperVM hacker gone wild. I wonder if this is related. |

The Ostrich script, utilizing double-height images.
This feature is used only once during the first sect of the game to get the player across a desert path. At the moment, only one character can use it (seen above), and it follows a straight-line path.
And really, I probably don't need to tack on much more than that.
Here are some things that might be featured in next week's update:
-The first explorable desert area
-The "Cactus Man" script
-Dehydration in effect
-A Dragon
REMINDER: Viridia's got a preview video for the next HamsterSpeak issue. |

Nooo sorry, it's just a guy with a hat.
I think what you're seeing is the ostrich's face, not a skull.
Rest assured, I'll feature more of this after the first sect. |

No update this week, but I've nearly got everything ready for the Preview Video in the next HamsterSpeak.
STAY TUNED FOR SOME PRETTY AWESOME STUFF
EDIT:
Whoops, I promised I'd actually have an update. Fine, here's a picture.

Crossposted from Slime Salad: Viridia looks amazing. There's a lot of love put into that game and it shows. _________________

The previous two posts completely fail to express how amazing your game's effects and cinematic attention are, and to be fair, I wouldn't be able to express my feelings well enough either.
When I saw the desert ground collapsing, my jaw nearly dropped at how awesome it was.
My only real criticism is the flipping of shading on the walkabout walking. _________________

|

Making an early post in case I can't get to a computer over the holiday weekend. (Cheers for blowing stuff up!)
First, thank you all for that warming reception of the Preview Video, it means a lot to me and inspires me to work hard (starting next Monday, hurr). Also,

This is my fault since I haven't updated some of these sprites in over a year. I'll tweak some of them before long.
Second, Chapter 1 is essentially done, but there are many areas that will need polishing. I'll soon be needing Playtesters to check for holes, bugs, and battle balance.
If you'd like to be a Viridia Playtester, go ahead and say so and I'll chalk you onto my list.
Finally, I'm reflecting over the stuff that needs to go into Chapter Two ("Missionaries"). It's a very short chapter that mainly runs through scenarios and battles - No dungeons and no [beatable] bosses.
Despite this, there are many enemies and walkabout graphics that'll be unique to this chapter. If I work it right, this may prove to be the most cinematic chapter in the first release! |

In the white heat of the Mica Desert, two opposing forces are engaging one another in a long, brutal, holy war with no end in sight.
Your enemy: The mighty Grit clan, a stubborn people who think they control everything in sight. They have immense combat and stealth prowess, with special cloaks that make them almost invisible in the sand.
A scimitar-wielding Warrior.
A Grit Medic.
Your allies: The church of the "Loyals," trying to speed up the colonization process by converting heathens to their side. They have professional soldiers and mercenaries in tow, but morale runs low as victories escape them.
Your staple of defense, Red Soldier.
Your support, Red Medic and Red Scout.
The Big Priest. Look familiar?
==========
==========
Wait. Soldier, Scout, Medic, Heavy... I've been naming all the classes after Team Fortress 2 classes! Oh well, no one's gonna notice.
In other news, no one has signed up to be a Viridia playtester yet; you could be the first! Just send me a private message and let me know. |

Umm... just wanted to say that I saw the trailer on Hamsterspeak, and that the animation effects look really, really awesome. ^_^ If you need playtesters and no one volunteers, sign me up. It'd be an honor. :] _________________ http://www.castleparadox.com/gamelist-display.php?game=750 Bloodlust Demo 1.00

I don't think I'll be anywhere near a computer for the next 4 or 5 days, so I'll post a few pictures before I leave.
The Medic heals by way of bandages.
The jumping Sniper is more lethal and harder to hit in the air. |

I'm curious about the purpose of your animated sprites. |
