Christmas contest 2000

The begining:

Hey there kiddies, it's that time of year, when Santa and his crew fly around the world giving out gifts to all the good little boys and girls of the world. (and by "all", I mean those who celebrate Christmas.) This time of year is also notable, because it marks the begining of the OHR community's X-mas contest. If you asked a normal group of kids what Christmas meant to them, you'd probably hear some tripe about candy canes, reindeer, and happiness all around; but not here. No siree. With the minds we've got in our community, you can expect to see Christmas done a little differently. Jisaniga-chan has already promised us a helping of Christmas zombies. Now this should be fun.

So far, all we have to detail is the list of participants. As the contest progresses, we'll have screenshots of the games, and of course downloads.
  • Blaze
  • Red Baron
  • Locke & Melnazar
  • Jisaniga-chan
  • Harlock & Byako
  • Gilbert
  • T-Master
  • Novakaiser
  • Scyree
  • HuckdOnFonix

The end result:

fail·ure
n.
  1. The condition or fact of not achieving the desired end or ends.
  2. Nonperformance of what is requested or expected.
Sadly, "Christmas contest 2000" ended in failure, there was not a single game entered. However, the important thing do to is not to mull over this fact, but rather, to see what we can learn from this. Why did the contest fail? Recent contests (Halloween contest 2000, the latest 24 hour contest) have met also met with poor turn out. So why is this? Is the OHR community simply lazy? Do we not like contests? Perhaps the winter holidays were simply too hectic a time to focus on designing video games. Whatever the reason, if someone decides to host a game-making contest again, I suggest they look long and hard what will make people want to participate, lest things result similarly to Christmas contest 2000.
