Small addendum to Cody's post. Three new reviews have been uploaded, including ones of Endless Saga written by Pepsi Ranger and Hoshi-Sama. The other review is one of Necroscope(Blood Brothers) written by Psyco2000. Enjoy the new content, and remember to upload your games.

  [BEGIN RANT]

You know, some of you guys are really putting me through a lot of hell here. Yesterday afternoon, just prior to releasing the script, I was feeling pretty proud of myself. I knew that this could be a great addition to the OHR community, but I was fearful of one thing; you guys. "C'mon", I told myself, "You've written a nice clear set of instructions. The community is pretty smart. I'm sure that there'll be no trouble at all getting things rolling, and then, everything will be great." Now that the list has been up for one day, I'm not so sure.

Yesterday, there were a total of 40 games submitted to the list. I can honestly say, the response was overwhelming. It gave me a giddy joy to see new games being added one by one as the night went on. However, as more and more games got added, I became quite concerned. By the end of the night, I was near tearing my hair out. Have I failed you some how? Did I not provide clear instructions? Was I not clear that I wanted this to be an archive of every OHR game ever made? Some how, people seemed to miss my point. But lets not focus on the bad (yet.) Let's all applaud the people who used this system the way it was meant to be used:

RIGHT!
You'll notice how all these games give nice descriptions, all the fields are filled in correctly, and the games that have had demos released actually uploaded demos! (See below for explanation of anger.)

MILDLY WRONG!
  • Eternal Warriors Demo (very short) (All I really asked for is that game name. We don't need an indication of it's status [That's what the "status" option in your game data is for] or how long it is. "Eternal Warriors" would do just fine. [Status update: no_shot fixed his game like a responsible citizen. Good job, no_shot.])

  • Shadow of Time (The creator of this game seemed to feel we only needed to know it's name. Go figure.)

  • The Virus and the Pizza (I know this game has had a demo released, so why isn't a demo uploaded? It it such an inconvenience to upload a tiny 200KB file? How can we have an archive without every game? We can't!)

The list entries above gave me a small cause for concern, but it's nothing compared to the list entries that are...

HORRIBLE!
  • Dimensions (To deliberately not upload a demo to this page is a real kick in the pants, because it's basically defeating the entire cause of having this archive. Who cares if you're embarassed by it? I uploaded my extremely crappy game, because I want to make a complete archive.)

  • Planetoid Penguins (Let me get this straight, a demo hasn't been uploaded, but there's a link to download one. Maybe people don't understand this concept. I want there to be a local copy on O:OHR. Because a lot of the time, old sites get taken down, moved or renovated, and then direct links are worth squat. If there is a copy on O:OHR's server, you can be assured that the game will always be available to the public.)

  • Moogle Quest (What's this? You say you're "too lazy" to upload it? Worst excuse, ever! What part of complete archive do you not understand?)

Don't even get me started on all the games that should've been uploaded, but haven't. For example. While Moogle was here uploading "Moogle Quest", "Mystic Sky" and "Way of The Wizard" why didn't he upload "Never Forget" too? While JSH357 was here uploading "Super Joe RPG" how come he didn't upload "Duck & MJ"?

Basically, this is what it boils down to; if you uploaded all the games you've ever made, then you fall in the "Good" column, and you get my personal stamp of approval. If you only uploaded a couple of your games, or did anything that the "mildly wrong" or "horrible" people did, then I have 3 words for you: "complete local archive"!

I don't have any problem with you adding games to the archive if they don't have a demo yet, in fact I encourage it. (That's why I made the "no demo" status indicator.) But if your game does have a public demo, and you don't upload it to the archive, that makes me very angry.

Earlier last night, I was thinking of scrapping the whole thing. "I knew this would happen!" I thought. "The public can't be trusted to do anything right!" But, what ultimately gave me the resolve to continue was a few kind words from my friends, Jazz Man, PK-Fortis, Spiff, UberSteve, Ralfo, Harlock, and Bobby. You can thank them for keeping this project alive. Because, there may be people in this community who can't fill out a form correctly, but there are some who can, and they are the people that deserve this.

  [END RANT]

By the way, if you are in any way an offender of one of the things I described above, I suggest you correct it. I can not be held responsible if your password mysteriously changes and your game description turns into "The author of this game is a complete goober."

Big update today. No, I haven't uploaded more reviews, features, articles, or demos to rate (Sorry.) But, in my opinion, what I have uploaded is a lot cooler (Yes, I am heavily biased.) I've just recently gotten into learning PHP, and, well, inspiration struck, giving way to "The Game List". To find out more, read the introduction and then go register your game(s). Also, please note that this is my first major work of coding in PHP. I've tried my best to bug test, but I'd be suprised if no one found an error. So please mail me with any problems you encounter.

[Update: It looks as if there might be a problem uploading files over 1MB. *sigh* I knew something like this would happen...]

[Update to the Update: Well, it seems now as if we only have a problem uploading files over 2MB. I think I need to talk to the hosting about this.]

I can't stand being shown up by those two. I will update! Just kidding. Today we have something special -- the OHRlympics results! They're under "Features."
