Spirit Master is a mediocre game at best, not hindered by the normal newbie problems, it's got decent graphics, a decent story, and a relatively interesting main character. The game's real problem is with it's horribly uninspired dialogue and map design. Oh well, lets see what we can get out of being a Spirit Master...

Daimen, plagued by a mysterious ghost who keeps attempting to kill him, has to join forces with the village white mage, Lennra. Together they journey into his dreams to defeat his foe, only to wake up with the village in flames. Soldiers from Castle Glaremekk arrest them, and the King sends them off to the cells, with a promise that they'll be hanged the next morning for their crimes. Daimen begins to accept his role as Spirit master, and uses his powers to blow a hole through the cell wall. After rescuing Lennra from her cell, they make a daring escape, eventually fleeing in a boat to another land. Transversing a mountain, they meet Gart, a bandit and self proclaimed rebel leader. After talking a bit, he heads off, going to lead his imaginary forces, no doubt. Daimen has become enamored with visiting his old village, deep within a forest past the mountain, and Lennra is dragged along. The journey through the forest is tough, but finally they arrive in his village, when suddenly a voice calls out to them, claiming to be the one who created the human race. Then the demo ends. Unfortunately, the story I just told you, while totally true to the game, is told through dialogue so horrible, so mangled and pointless, that most of the meaning is lost in it. The spelling and grammar are fine, it's just the way that Daimen tells the story. Oh well.

Graphics- Shading is used, and the graphics aren't painful to look at. Pretty nice to be honest, especially from a newbie. The problem is the lack of variety. Five enemies total in the game, and 3 are palette swaps of each other. Every thing is done with the minimal amount of effort, so the game comes off as very unmemorable.

Gameplay- Lack of enemy variety, and maps where your led from one location to another almost by the nose makes for a very boring world. I was never lost or even challenged. All I had to do was follow the only path open to me.

Music- It's music. You'll notice it's there, but not much else.

Scores:
Graphics: Minimalistic, but good.
6.0/10
Music: "Yawn"
5.0/10
Storyline: A good story, told horribly.
4.0/10
Gameplay: Boring maps+boring battles=Boring gameplay.
3.0/10
Overall (Not an average score): For everything this game is, the overall effort manages to underwealm me. Play it once, then get on with your life.
5.0/10
