The download now actually works and has the download count (thanks to Inferior Minion.) So, everyone download it and knock yourselves out... with fun. The current version now has the most up-to-date bug fixes and is working perfectly.

The link is here:

And now our site is almost back to working order with all new screenshots if you want to see what the game looks like first:

Happiness is swelling up inside me right now...

This game makes me happy. It's not perfect, but Genesis is a huge step in the right direction for OHR games with dramatic stories and a dynamic world. Oh, the graphics are pants creamingly sweet. Good work Lucier and Sephy!

Please don't hold the fallowing statement against me...please. I'm entitled to my opinion.

I think the graphics are good, but there's tons of areas they drastically need to be improved...thousands of tons... People think too much relative to other OHR games...Out of 10 I'd give them a 6...

Please...don't...scream...at...me *OHR member punches Mad Hatter in the mouth*

Actually, I'd have to agree with you. The walkarounds need a little work, especially around the main female's...coughbreastscough...area, though I do like how you made the NPC taller (though she is really thin)

Also, the town she lives in is pretty sparse...I mean there are what, 4-5 houses? Yeah.

ANYWAY the cutscene with the huge NPC's was amazing, I really enjoyed it. Fix a few things up, I'm sure this'll become an OHR great.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. Even the criticism is highly welcome for you can't expect to improve without knowing what you need to fix. Mad Hatter, if you could be more specific that would help a little more though. Fanell and Midlan (the two towns) are actually meant to be small for the island Yuriko lives on is more country side (which is why Midlan is the sole port town.) And pertaining to the walkabouts, I have an odd perspective on asethetic changes (including maptiles and anything graphically) in that all the current sprites and tiles will not be changed but new ones may be added. This is because a game is sort of a representation of growth in both the characters and the people who make the game. As Lucier and I grow graphically, it will be apparent throughout the game. Oh, and as to the question of who made the maptiles, it is actually a shared responsibility between the two of us (with Toxicshroom making the openning forest map.)

And as for comments, keep em comming!

Oh! I almost forgot. There are a few extra tid-bits you can do for items and even small hints at to future story parts. Here are a few:
- try talking to the people in town before leaving for the forest, some have individual scripts and can give you items after the forest scene.
- it is impossible to get every item on the first time through of the owl dodge and drop game. In a later demo, you will be able to come back and get all the items and compete for a best time (which will give prizes based upon your time.)
- the restuarant in Midlan has three random conversations between Claude and Yuriko, one of which has a hint to a later story section.

After the frog informs you about the weapon system, the weapon shop gets its new stock in. You will need herbs... and as you kill enemies you sell the items you get (which is explained in the information center in town.) I reccomend at least getting to level 2 so you get some actual skills.

Sephy 99, I didn't actually download the game yet Big grin ...I know no one can really draw conclusions from a few screeenshots, but I've developed more or less a sense as to the graphics in a game... Sorry bout that...I know that I should've played the whole game, not just viewed some screenshots.

Well, for one thing you've got a lot of the platic-look going on...Too much gradient...A lot of those bricks, grass, wood, wall, rock, and basically most tiles in general look like plastic... You need to put some worn-out detail on them. Also, vary your tiles more...Instead of just grass tiles, have some with rocks or flowers or something on them...Less wide-open areas, make it a little crowded...

The sprites...Some look too skinny...Only a few few pixels should take the leftover space...

And...I'll say more later when I've seen more of the game...Wow, that's a lot of dots I used...Anywho.

Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I must say that I would have prefered that you played the game first. Afterall, graphics are only a small portion of an RPG.

Jeez. Okay, Mad Hatter, I wouldn't have thought this would have needed to be said, but you really shouldn't go throwing around comments like someone's game is barely above decent without playing it.

If you had actually bothered to play Genesis, you would have seen how much depth the NPCs had, the very well balanced and clever battle system, and a plot that managed to be both engaging, heartfelt and funny.

Before you go throwing out comments on people's games, take a look at some other OHR Games...in terms of plot, battles, and yes, even graphics, Genesis kicks some serious ass. I know you're new, but you should have known better...how would you have felt if someone told you your game was crap...only to find out that they didn't actually play it?

...and on a sidenote, I do agree that the walkabouts need some serious work, though I love all the plot animation they have.

I wasn't critiquing the whole game, just the graphics. And I said I was very well aware that I saw only a few screenshots. I didn't say the graphics were bad, they're a heckeva lot better than what most people make, just they need to be improved. I didn't say the game was not worth playing, either. But yes, I do believe I sounded more like a jerk in my last post, but please be aware that I was only talking about the graphics, not the whole game. I'm a tough critic when it comes to graphics, I apologize for that. I know that sometimes-well, a lot of the time Big grin -I need to shut up.

Uh, I know that sounded confrontational, but I don't mean it that way, I'm always saying one thing when I mean another, heh heh Big grin ...I can be nice Razz .
