Minnek

Music brings back memories, long lost, dead, forever forgotten as it seems. The key to all the past is in the mysterious effects of the song, as life is related to music. Theme, your actions in life that reflect on your alignment with good or evil. Rhythm, how you take day to day situations. Melody, your personality. These three aspects influence all, and are the be all and end all of every living thing.

Just a little thought set ... idea... - whatever you want to call it - that I had. What do y'all think? (Let me know if this has already been done, just so I know Big grin

)

Yup, its been done before. Every standard RPG. No, I dont' mean the music thing, I mean the "main character lost his memory" thing. GRRR.

Erm, sorry. I'm a little mad at that today for some reason. Why can't the main character EVER REMEMBER HIS PAST?! (think Terra, Kain, Cloud, Squall, Zidane...and thats just FF)

Yeah. I'm pissed off for some reason. Your idea actually does sound interesting, and it breaks the mold in a way (the memory lost mold...grr)

Anyway, yeah.

... You're commenting about Partisan Legacy, aren't you? Heh... I thought I was being original, too... but now that I think about it, it's really not so different from your traditional RPG...so... yep. I suck at being original most of the time. Oookay...

Why not have a character that deliberately conceals his past instead. Here's something I believe is orignal, have the protagonist become the major antagonist instead, kill off/ trap/ plot hole/ incapacitate the entire party and essentially have the game continue from one of the 'incapacitated' character's standpoints. (Imagine playing ff6 from Kefka's standpoint and imagine the irritation when he off's Geshtahl.)

Jacques Lerosse is the kind of guy who deliberately hides his past. He'd rather you not know that he was born Jacob Lamar to a wealthy businessman and was kicked out of his house for stealing. He'd rather you not know that he joined the Red Fang Order at one point and indirectly caused the death of his brother's wife when he left. He'd rather you not know that he had to kill Blaine Arlissan to end his murderous ways. He'd rather you not know that he's actually Tethish (English), though he seems Glissan (French).

Of course, he'd tell you if you asked...

I came up once with an alternative to the memory thing. How about a hero who resents his past, leading to doubt and denial and ultimately causes him to invent a false past for himself, which he believes in fervently, but the false past begins to turn him into someone he doesn't want to become, yet he is too late to stop himself...

I haven't played too much RPGs...

Seph- Woah. Thats like...exactly like a character from The Crystal Globe was designed (I might as well tell ya, because it won't be a spoiler kuz the game is cancelled...). Anyway, Ultionis, older brother of Vengeance, well...in their past their little villiage was attacked (arent they all) and he was sent to the front line, while he left Vengeance to protect their old parents. However, Vengeance ignored them, and forced Ultionis to protect them. Ultionis failed, and his parents died.

The plan was, as the story progressed, you realize Ultionis blames the death of his parents on his brother, not himself. He creates this dream world where, if he can kill Vengeance, his parents will return to him. It was kinda a sub-quest thing because niether Vengeance nor Ultionis are the main character. Anyway...yeah. Supressing bad memories and creating their own, until the character finally becomes mad.

Lastly; Setu, you are completely right! I still dont agree with coppy right laws. They are ignorant. I can proove that there are millions of races and peoples in da universe who probobly already came up with some stories we FEEBLE humans came up with millions of years before us. How can I proove it? Well, it goes without saying... You know why??

Umm, LeRoy, I said nothing about copyright laws. I was referring to originality.

Otherwise, in referrence to Minnek's statement, there's a reason bards are the way they are. Until you're a musician, I don't think you'd understand that.

Setu, imagine if a bard lost their ability to make music, what would they do (example, singer loses her voice)? They learn a new instrument (example, a guitar)! Yes, that's one of my characters (Fiona). I put a plug every where, don't I?
