I never expected the project to be ready soon, IM. And Eldritch believes he can handle the code, so don't worry. As for you other graphic artists who want in, sorry, but no. One or two is enough. |

What kind of code are we talkin' here? If it's somethin' I know, I'm willin' to pitch in, and if it ain't, well heck, I'll learn it and join in! (I'm feeling very rural-voiced right now...is that even a phrase?) Anyway, lemme know. Always willing to help I be. _________________ * SDHawk has joined #Minnek

What kind of code? I'm thinking C++ for the basic structure. The problem is going to be creating a 'host' database with communications that can connect to a 'client' program and vice versa. The I/O protocol for internet transmissions and IP # recognitions is very foreign to me. Namely, I'm simply going to have to learn them and enjoy. If ANYONE on these boards has knowledge fo where I might find template code or a small library for the I/O protocol, please tell me. _________________ "Live by the dice, die by the dice."

C++? This is right up my alley....sorta. I'll look into this stuff n' see what I can pull outta the hat. (Please excuse my...jargon? slang? abbreviations? modifications to the words?) I've had a little experience in this area, not much. Still messing with sockets and whatnot, and all that other jazz. If I try to think up what exactly I'm working with, I'll sprain my brain; afterall, I just woke up. (3PM, sue me.) I'll look into it and let you know what I find. Hopefully I can be of an amount of help that is greater than zero. Okay that wraps this post up. (Finally! Not spam!) _________________ * SDHawk has joined #Minnek

Hunter, no. We talked about allowing people to import sprites in for their avatars, but it just isn't feasible. Besides looking awful compared to the regular graphics, and I'm sure some wanker would import DBZ characters, there'd simply be too many actions to be imported in. Laughing, smiling, crying, etc. It's just not feasible. But rest assured, the chat will be versital enough for you to create an avatar that looks something like you want it to. |

To all of you who are looking forward to the Graphical Chat, the design document has just been completed, and progress is...progressing. I'll be sure to keep all of you updated with the project as work is completed. |

Oh dear god, it's not like you people waste ENOUGH time in that godforsaken channel already.
I could program this in a day - and it would go and join the millions of other programs just like it.
Here, why don't you guys just go and download one already? It's called Well of Souls.

Fyre is such a kidder. Or is he? He is a kidder, and yet he's Kidder, right? Err...ahem. I'm glad to hear it's coming along smoothly. Let me know if I could be of assistance. I'd be happy to help. _________________ * SDHawk has joined #Minnek

Well of Souls is more of a game/MMORPG-maker than a graphical chat. I used to have it... |

It's becoming more of a chat each day. It would be a better MMORPG maker if you release worlds as their own games (full customization), and you can only usually handle 20 players at a gig a day for bandwidth. |
