Oookay... They're awesome! They kick my brothers Art Work out of the water! Ha ha ha! Finally! Someone my brother won't think he can draw better then... the cocky BA Smokin' ARD... lol, anyways, I think Madhatter and everyone else is right, they're UNBELIEVABLE! I wish I could draw like that... Really confused being able to scan my pics would even be preferable, of course, they do't compare with yours, though!

..... also, Madhatter's right, QUIT BEING MODEST, if you have a gift, be proud of it!

Hehehe, thanks The Bard.

Oh! I was reading Machu's post and when I saw his scratchboard, it made me remember that I did a scratchboard this summer. I never actually finished because I hated (and still do hate) how it looked and how many tiny errors it had. But anyway, just like last time, I'm really bored. So here are a few pictures of it.

A close-up of it... it's a little blurry, sorry. Notice the irregularly small eye and crooked smile.

This is a smaller, more detailed picture. You can actually see where i made all the lines. It looks funny.

The real picture, it's actually the same one I used when doing the scratchboard, hence the pencil tracings all over. Again, sorry, it's pretty crappy quality. The pencil lines make it hard to see all the details, but this picture will have to do.

In case you're wondering who the guy is, he's Conor Oberst, the lead singer of Bright Eyes and the Desaparecidos.
That's all.

That's pretty cool, Lucy. I don't know how scratchboarding works, but it looks nice.

Scratchboarding is where you take a white piece of paper, dip in some kind of black waxy substance, and then scratch away the blak until a picture appears.

And that picture looks really nice.

Sure, sure...

To the pictures. Well, just the last one. That's the one that impressed me the most.

I am a little suprised at the...ah...aura surrounding many of the brither portions of the drawing. Is that a result of glass glare and such? I do not think that can be done with pencil...

I like the form of the right cheek (the right cheek, not the cheek on the right), it has a shape that makes it look like there is actual pressure coming from the palm of the hand. Along with that, there is somewhat of a flacidity in the skin on the right hand. This loseness makes a great deal of sense considering how the hand is being pressed against the cheek.

The fingers of the right hand look decent, but I am not entirely certain about them. They look strained, as if they are digging in a little, but the pinky seems to be resting on the eyebrow -- not pressing. The other fingers are too obscured by the hair to say.

The hair has a beautiful cohesion to it. It flows downward and outward, yet sticks together. Needless to say, the highlights on either side of the part are good.

Let me see...I don't know whether the 'thing' on your left forarm are bracelets or hair...but that's not an art problem -- I just want to know.

The lips... I'm not entirely sure about the lips. I'm not saying that they look badly, or malformed, but I am wondering... With the palms being pressed against the cheeks like they are, shouldn't the lips be pulled outward? Or is the stretching pressure on the chin, not the lips?

There is a shadow on the left-hand wrist that doesn't seem to be coming from anywhere. Is it from the nose? The lips? All the other lighting seems to be coming from below-ish, but that shadow seems like it could only be cast from a lightsource higher-up.

That being said, I am amazed. You have produced a beautiful work with a lot of emotion. I am impressed. Good job!

They appear to be bracelets (or one bracelet that wraps around twice in a really neat manner) to me...

I've been very impressed with your progress in the last few years. I told you I'd be back to check up on you, and sure enough - you've made me proud. Keep up the good work, and I hope to see more stellar improvements. Happy

Mr B:
Yes, the aura shiney things are actually just glass glares..
I know what you mean about the fingers looking strained. I didn't really take muh time on the fingers, and the pinkey looks like maybe I made it too long.
Thank you for the compliments on the hair, a lot of people seem to like it. My hair wasn't actually that long in the photo. I thought it would look more dramatic if I lengthened it some.
The 'things' on my arm are actually two plastic bracelets I folded around one another.
The lips should stretch out and upward some. They did in the photo, but it looked way too much like I was smiling, and I didn't want to appear happy in the drawing. So I tried to keep my mouth from stretching much, but it just ended up looking weird.
And the shadow on my left-hand wrist is actually supposed to be from the bangs and hair draped over the top part of that hand. Although I can see how you could be confused, I didn't really make that hair exactly how it was in the photo.

omerta:
Thank you. That's very cool that you've been watching me progress.

I understand! Omerta is Steve, right? You were saying this morning that you wanted to tell Lucy that you liked her art! That explains why you talk as one who's been around for a while...

Coincidence, I suppose. My mistake.

Well, you talk like you've been around for a while. Have you been a sleeper-viewer, or would we know you by another name?

I'll let you muse on it. For now, I'll return to my "condescending jerk" critiques.
