Neon Genesis Evangelion, it's an animé, and a pretty rocking one at that.

Except the series ends HORRIBLY, so they made a movie. And the movie ended horribly, so they made another one. That one ended...ok.

Lacrymosa is going to have...well not really biblical references but...I dunno. A storyline where you could CONSIDER it religious if you took it in a different light, but if you don't its just a story (like Xenogears).

Uh...yeah. NGE is easy to get (Kazaa Raspberry!) so you should probably check out a few.

ROTFLMFAO!!!!

Your game sounds like a good idea. I'm making a game along similar lines; that is, alluding to celestial beings and also society in general.

I love you in a way that's about 37% gay. Is that cool?

For some more inspiration take a look at Doom and DoomII. That is, if you can find a copy. It's what... a decade old now? Then again, it's a first-person shooter and doesn't have very much plot, so perhaps it wouldn't be all that great to look at for an OHR game. Try it if you find it anyways.

By the way, PHC, what is your avatar? It's freaking me out, it looks like bleeding flesh or something along those lines to me.

For the record, Doom and Doom II have been re-released on the GBA if you want to rent/buy it. Raspberry!

Any setting is okay!

Checkitout:

Evangelion is about self-confidence
Xenogears is about self-reliance.

Settings of "divinity" would often have a divinity theme to them.. EVA or xenogears is "anti" the controlling powers, so the message is about individualism.

But you can do it an other way, you could argue a need for devils, controlling us.. Hey, whatever you believe in.. XD

Just don't worry about the setting too much, worry about the theme. ^_^

Demons?!! Yikes, my secret project I'm working on focuses alot on demons... Oh well, its not like typical demon games though, so go ahead, I would like to see what this could turn out to be.
(If the gamelist were working I would have posted a demo up...
Same with my internet connection...)

Hey, Shiz, welcome to CP.

Anyway, yeah, God uses demons a lot to test/tempt people, as they grow from overcoming such. I'd imagine Thanatos, Eris, Ares, and Dionysus would probably be pretty frustrated about ultimately working toward their enemy's purposes.

Thanks uncommon.

That does bring up a point, one needs to think about just what Demons are when using the demon setting. you can use Uncommons idea that "God uses demons to test us", or you can make it that demons work alone to control us... or even yet; you could go from an angle that man is controlling demons.

It doesn't matter too much just what angle you want, just that you have one, and that you can make something of it! Good luck.
