http://www.dexterity.com/articles/indie-faq.htm

that's the best faq i've ever seen on independent game development and what it takes to succeed in it. there are other articles on that site that are good also.

It's very interesting! I'm going to make millions by selling my games!

Wait... I have to make a game first...

isn't this for people who are willing to learn and develop under pure programming means of making a game, rather than use someone else's "free" program to develop the game.
nonetheless, it'll help those who would like to have a go at this type of stuff.

I would think so, Flamer. Honestly, I'm not a believer in selling OHR games. As a matter of fact, someone charging money for their game makes me not want to play it all the more.

Of course your going to pure code it, I can't see anyone making money off a OHR game, unless its up to commercial standard, and if you can make a game that well, you can and should pure program it anyway.

I don't know about you kids, but I'm not in it for the money. That's sort of the idea behind independent design.

If I ever make a game worthy of selling, I'll give this a read. Turning a profit on something you like. What else could you ask for?

i agree that ohr games probably shouldn't be sold but this particular forum, however, is labeled 'game design' -- not 'ohrrpgce game design', and many of us make games beyond the ohr.

Hmm....

Considering that the ATB is owned by Square (well, not owned, but I can't think of the word right now), wouldn't it be illegal to sell OHR games?

Hmm...

If you go into your profile, you can choose an avatar from the Avatar gallery that we have already set up. Cube uploaded some Naruto avatars that you can choose from.

Just click on the "profile" link at the top of the screen, and scroll down to the bottom where you can select your avatars. There, choose the "Avatar Gallery" button, and have fun.
