I've been messing around with the O.H.R.R.P.G.C.E. for about a year now and I have had a few good ideas for games but once I start making them the plot seems not as good as it sounded before so I stop trying on that plot and try to think of a new one. Is this because my storylines aren't very good to start of with or is it a common thing?

Do you plan the story out beforehand or do you make it up as you go? If it's the former, then you just need to work on your story (posting it here could help). If it's the latter, then you need to plan it out beforehand.

I think it is most definitely a common thing. Nobody is going to do it perfectly at first. Just keep at it.

Here's your problem: you are creating a game starting with the story.

Build your game from an interactive concept, not a story concept. It's good to plan your story in advance, but you need to be thinking of the game as a game with story integrated, not a story/game.

Now, if you have a great idea for a story, you'd be better off writing a novel.

Hmm yes maybe you'r right but the game I just posted on the storyboard (Silver Castle) I thought of as a game like you said then after I gave it a larger plot. Check it out and tell me if you like it.

My recommendation is that you take your starting idea, give it time to develop into a story, and just make it.

Now, on rare occasion your actual final product will be the exact way you planned it, but cheer up; that's both a good thing and a bad thing. Some things may not turn out as good as you wanted them to, but others may turn out more impressive than what you planned.

Just keep working at it, and you will see improvement. That's the game maker's life.
