Well, I've decided to type up the plot for my OHR game here. There are some major plot holes and I'd appreciate any ideas and constructive criticism. This gives away a lot of surprises I was planning, but if I don't finish the plot the game will probably never be completed anyway.

Somewhere, in the desert kingdom of Solarus, there is said to be hidden a tower of glass. The tower holds the secret of turning a mortal into a god. The last one to unlock this secret, the tower's creator himself, disappeared off the face of the Earth as soon as the process was completed. The tower also disappeared soon after. Some say the process went wrong, and destroyed both tower and creator, but there are still those who search for the glass tower, hoping to gain its amazing secrets.

Jarrus: A servant of the King of Solarus, Jarrus seeks out dangerous sites in the hopes of finding treasure or magical artifacts. He usually seems quite arrogant, cocky and sure of himself, but the King keeps him trapped in Solarus. Jarrus is from the Kyn Cities, and was a member of nobility there, but is forbidden to return. He does not tell anyone why, but rumours say he has something to do with the destruction of the old palace of the King.
Jarrus is a master swordsman, but is forced to carry a short, curved blade of the kind favoured by the Solari people. The King has forbidden straight edged blades in Solarus and taken away Jarrus' old magic sword. Jarrus is also an amateur mage.
Despite the King's beliefs, Jarrus is still angry for being made into a servant. And still dangerous. His first step on his escape from Solarus is the theft of a strange magical object from an old tomb, a large and ornate key made of glass.

Seth: No one knows where Seth came from. He recently appeared as the King's advisor and right hand man. Although he appears to be a young child, Seth is in reality a powerful demon, a vampire. Although most vampires tend to shun civilised areas, instead feeding on the souls of travellers, Seth has come to Solari city. He is slowly taking over the country by controlling the king’s actions with promises of power. His purpose in Solarus is to end his great thirst for the blood and souls of mortals. He has heard of a glass tower that can turn mortals into gods. He cannot perform this process himself, but if he drank the blood of a god…

Caesar: Caesar is Jarrus’ pet. He is a basilisk, a powerful creature that can turn people to stone with a glance. Jarrus has trained him to be a useful ally in battle. Basilisks look like large, blue lizards with lines of green light in their skin, they can often be found chained in tombs as guardians, as they need no food or water to survive and can live for centuries.

The biggest problem I’m having is how to get Jarrus to change between finding a way out of Solarus and looking for the glass tower. The first part of the game will be searching for it, the second part will be protecting the tower from anyone who tries to take it (including Seth).

Why did you decided to make it a tower of glass? Why couldn't it be brick or metal?

Well doesn't Jarrus like to seek out magical artifacts, so maybe he could already know about the Tower of Glass and once he has escaped he can go searching for it and maybe the things he stole for the temple will guide him to it.

That might work. Maybe after he escapes Seth could kill Jarrus' family and reveal himself as a demon, saying something along the lines of "only a god has the power to destroy me! MUAHAHAhA!" Since he wants to drink a god's blood and Jarrus seems the most likely candidate for finding the tower (Seth is going to pretend to help Jarrus escape).

Mostly because it just sounds better than a Tower of Brick. I want it to seem like some sort of building that mortals couldn't build.

Because glass makes sense in a desert. It's as if a supernatural force wrought it from the ground. Also a glass tower would be at the same time both beautiful and imposing, which is the mood I believe he wants to cultivate.

You mean he used to? If he can't leave the city how could he find treasure.

Make sure you have a reason for the key being there.

I like this.

Figure out how. Did he just waltz in and say "I can be your advisor"

This is not your biggest problem. Jarrus used to be a treasure hunter, so it only makes sense that he'd resume that profession. If you think his character would be seeking shelter first, you can have him encounter it haphazardly in the desert, ala the tower is found only when it wants to be found.

That strikes me as contrived, don't do that please, :/

In my opinion Jarrus should escape by the graces of Seth, and in fact, this should be the orchestration of Seth. Somehow he will use Jarrus to find the tower.

He can leave the city but not the country. The king uses him to find artifacts and gold for the royal treasury.

The key is for the glass tower. I'm planning to have more of them, that unlock different rooms containing different things.

The king is power hungry, so Seth showed him some demonic magic and promised him that power if Seth could stay in Solaris in an important position. I didn't really explain it very well.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, it's really helping me.

Oh... Well at least the name was used by a great author... Actually, that was just the working name because I couldn't think of anything else that hadn't been used already/didn't sound stupid. I'll just have to think harder now or something.

How about 'The Tower of Secrets'

Because it has the secret of making you into a god!
