Okay, this is going to far. Just because you didn't like either of the games submitted doesn't mean you have to make up a game to praise. If you don't like either game, don't vote. Or, better yet, maybe you should've made a game yourself and submitted it so you could vote for it. Do you realize how this makes me feel? I'm a really sensitive person, actually, and this really breaks me up. It's REALLY disrespectful to do this type of thing. I mean, come one. Even though it's meant to be a joke (I presume), I am serious when I say that this type of behavior depresses me. I'm fine with harsh reviews and all, but this crosses the line. Come on, people. This is dissapointing.

It's not meant to be disrespectful or rude, rather it's competition for OHRers. The game is fictionally made out to be the best OHR game imaginable, and quite better than a lot of commercial games. Can you do better? It's the non-existent pinnacle of custom game design. Not intended to make people feel bad, but rather to encourage them to beat a game that cannot possibly be beaten, because that's where great art comes from.

To be honest, I disliked a lot of things about TCOD, but I liked the day night thing, and some of the dialogue made me laugh. The only real problem I had was the battles. But I hate random battles to death and I think that And& was A) Perfect, and B) The worst game ever made.

I don't regret introducing Airship 2600, because unattainable greatness should be our competition. I do admit that to introduce it as an entry to a severely crippling contest is a bit tactless. If there was any deliberate cruelty in the idea it was directed at Fyre for calling himself a great game designer, promising to win the Human Day contest, and then proving that he can't even make the first level of Pacman on the OHR, much less an epic RPG.

And it's hypocritical. I raised a big fuss when Rinku refused to award a winner in the last human day contest, so I don't really have the right to say that nobody here deserves an award. I do commend you for even entering any original content of course.

And while I'm being totally honest, I may as well admit that I was gonna make fun of Fyre Wulff no matter what he entered. Sorry Kiddo.

On a side note, although it didn't affect the actual scores,
I believe that people should not be allowed to vote in contests until
they have been active in the community in some way. It is unfair to
allow somebody to register, vote, and never post again, and quite
obviously the vote I'm alluding to is a bias vote in favor of
FyreWulff.

I also believe that people who have not been active in the community
for a long time who come back just to vote for something (Like the
Top 15) should have no voice, but that is debatable.

"Do you realize how this makes me feel? I'm a really sensitive person, actually, and this really breaks me up."

Me, "AirShip 2600" wasn't made with the intention of hurting anyone's feelings, but you have to admit, you're getting pretty overworked up about this. I mean, I didn't feel so dispondent and heartbroken as my last contest game, "Mormon Mission" went through the ringer of this community, getting an F review and it's very own thread where the community declared it a monstrousity. You know why? Because Mormon Mission took less then two weeks of my life to create, and frankly, isn't going to be my end all, ulitmate game.

Me, your game was crummy, you admit it had a lot of problems. Gilbert's reaction to voting for an imaginary game shows that the community in general was unhappy with the situation of having to vote a winner from two very poor games. I'm sorry it hurt you so much, but try to remember that you'll make plenty of games after this one, and I'm sure they'll be a ton better then this silly little contest game.

Both TCOD and &And had an insane number of random battles, and both required some skill to beat the battles (remember "Flash" in &And?). Not only that, both &And and TCOD were basically random battles + Puzzle Maps. I, like Gil, also associated TCOD with &And when I first played it, because they are both similar in style (not to mention they both are long).

As for the Airship 2600 thing, you really don't need to be offended. Though both games entered in the contest certianly had some quality in them, when compared to other "standard" OHR games they are certainly lacking. Even when compared to other "contest" games they are lacking somewhat. This could be blamed on the contest's rules (make a game out of nothing = crap game), but I think everyone will agree these games are not high quality when compared to other OHR games.

What Gil was trying to convey (or at least what I understand from it) was that it was difficult/not fun to vote for games that we (we being the community) probably wouldn't download if they were just released on the game list. I probably would never have played PAC OHR if Fyre had just posted it up. I might have played TCOD, but I probably wouldn't have endured through the entire thing. Airship 2600 was a parody of how no one really enjoyed playing these games (even though we understood that the resources were limited), and Airship 2600 was the "breather" that we needed for this contest.

Uh, yeah, that is basically what I read into this. There is no need to be offended, to be honest. As CN put it, it was a 2 week game, and you'll probably make something better in the future, so don't worry about it.

Okay, this is an instance where the topic is just so freakishly pathetic that I don't have to type anything.

PS: Airship 2600 is a pretty bitching game. I like the part when the ninjas dynatmite the pirate lair, and the lair collapses with awesome Havok physics. The resulting scene (pirates bombing Tokyo) was also one fo the most fun times I have ever had in a game, ever.

Really, Dur? My favorite part was when the Shadow King possesed the Hero's lover, right after destroying downtown San Francisco with the Robot-Shadow Clones.

And the hero got revenge in the freakin coolest way, remember? Man, that was so awsome. I didn't even KNOW you could do that with a spork and two liters of Mountain Dew.

I'm not saying it was meant to make people sad/pissed/whatever. More, I'm just telling you that it does make me, as one person, feel bad, and I just ask that you respect that.

Me, you need to stop refering to yourself in 3rd person.

Yeah, this topic is long done, though I think this Airship 2600 will become one of CP's running jokes.
Aw hell, I'll give it a whack:

I love how this game puts an emphasis on exploration, but still manages to include just the right amount of random encounters. The battles are very creative; I never would have thought up that "Gun Eye" fight, and I wouldn't mind doing it again! In fact, I will, now that I've unlocked the Boss mode (I'm still having trouble fighting "Barabus", so if you guys could help me out, I'd appreciate it).

Heh, I think it should be a new rule that if someone tries to make a real "Airship 2600" game they should be banned, cause it would never stand up to what it is now. Raspberry!

We can't ban them, we'd just call it a "fan-game".

Oh yeah, we should also give it its own thread, since it doesn't relate to this contest anymore.

Machu - To beat Barabus you need BOTH the flame gun AND the black sheep. Otherwise you'll just shoot him forever and he won't die. Distract him with the sheep, then hit his third eye hard.

He wasn't nearly as tough as "End." That guy was friggin huge! I didn't even KNOW you could fit that many pixels in an OHR game!

Hey did you know that after Osiris dies, you can actually bring him back to life? You remember how he was turned to stone, well when you travel into the future the second time it turns out that the badguys chopped up his body and sent one part to each continent. You just have to go find each body part and then put them together and use the SOFTEN spell on him. If you don't have Soften, you can learn it from Old Man Brannigan (The Commodore of the Zebra fleet).

(Heh, when I write my review I'm gonna have to take notes on what everyone here is saying about the game)

Old Man Brannigan was the most bad@$$ old man ever dude. The way he took down those chimpanzee zombies was incredible.

I secret item fusion was really cool too, like how you could fuse items/captured monsters/weapons together. Flame Demon + Staff of Purity + Hand of Osiris= No freakin way man. Too bad I couldn't resurrect Osiris after using his hand to create that...thing, but heck, it was cool.

It was too bad Zeracal had to die, though. More games should have blind people in them, especially blind people with sharpshooting skills from hell. Oops, just spoiled that part...sorry folks!

I've been playing for about eight hours now, but I think I'm only about a quarter through. Man, this game is so great, it ends, but it doens't really! It is sheer video game brilliance! I can't wait for Boss Mode though.
