I'm almost certain that somebody would have posted this by now, but this is a very good (Though slightly outdated) 'e-book' on game design.
And in case you don't know who Chris Crawford is, do some google searches or something. He's an amazing guy. |

I would have posted it had I known there was an e-book version floating around. Anyway, thanks for this link, because I agree in saying that Chris Crawford is incredible. I very much enjoy reading his views on game design. _________________

just for clarification, the linked-to thing there was the first book on game design ever -- written in 1982. the prize of the human day contest is his second book on game design, released much more recently (around 2001).
his website (can be found via a google.com search easily) has an additional 1000 or so pages of game design writings, including all of his articles for the first game developer newsletter (which he was the editor of).
if i had to recommend a reading order, it'd be:
1) his current, 2001 book
2) the 1982 book in the e-text above
3) everything on his site's 'library' page, in order of year (from early to recent)
also, he's fairly approachable via email, so if you have any questions about his writings, write him and he usually gives good answers to it, as long as they aren't stupid questions. _________________ Tower Defense Game |
