The title of this thread pretty much explains it. I'm trying to incorperate the plot of the story thread into an rpg. Obviously I'll be taking HUUUGE liberties with the plot, characters, locations, enemies etc so that the game will make a detatched sort of sense. Screenshots will come tomorrow when I get the first real boss encounter planned properly... _________________

Maybe you should have posted it on the STORY forum. _________________ But enough talk, have at you! |

It is an announcement about a game on the rediculous story that is happening in the story thread. Posting a thing about the story in the same thread might just confuse someone anyway.
Well, You aren't going insane as far as I can tell. You are just compiling the ideas of the people who participated in the story and truning them into an actuall game.
With the right inspiration, any game can be a good game.
PS: Don't forget to announce where to get this game when you are finished (the name and such) because I woul like to see how you did. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

I apologise for any confusion, I have an annoying habit of cutting my posts short. For the moment I haven't given the game a real name (Opting instead to label it X2).
I'd give you further details on it but I'll wait until I have at least a couple hours gameplay down.
...Unfortunately geocities hates me so I won't be able to give you any screenshots as of yet. _________________

I'm almost up to the one hour mark (assuming you play the game slowly). I have one boss done (one of those 'he's too strong to defeat until you wander off and find something') and a very simple 'pick a box' mini game. I also have a 'first boss in final fantasy games' type boss planned (attack it until it transforms then wait until it transforms back before attacking it again).
That's pretty much it... _________________

Sounds pretty interesting. And I for one would like to see your interpretation of the story. It will be hilarious when I see the hero grafics and such. That is all... _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

I've uploaded an early version of the game (I've called it X2). I know I wanted to get as much gameplay done as possible but I'd rather make sure I'm doing things right. There are a few spelling mistakes, one of the items is labelled incorrectly and there's a glitch if you enter a building during a lightening clap but other than that it works fine. Give me lots of feedback ok? I'm sure there are some other errors somewhere (particulary with the speedboat) that I haven't found _________________

I guess I'll just have to work harder then... _________________

All I could do was look through the custom. My game.exe won't work right now.
(You weren't kidding when you said you'd take liberties. That's nice though. Now we can imagine how the quest for the golden spam began. And don't forget the polkadotted flannel. ) It's sort of like Jason and the argonaughts' quest for the golden flease (Spell check) It's kind of dumb that I just realized this... _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

I hope you sort out your game.exe soon (Any bets it's that temp file bug AGAIN ).
I'm now working on a transitional part of the game (you know, play as another character for a bit as a break from the usual slog) where you play as tipwhip the inane who returns to turtle village to find everyone cowering in their houses for some reason. He goes to the turtle high rise and is told to go off and protect Minnek from, you know, the cows.
Of course, that part is purely conceptual at the moment (but at least I've now got an inane looking tipwhip drawn)
I found a few bugs myself while play testing X2. I forgot to make the warp you find 'consumed by use'. And I need to create an alternate path back from wherever the stream takes the heroes (Probably a purgatory style 'put wood plank over stream' puzzle). And there's an undetectable bug with the inn (I forgot to put a check tag command in that determines whether or not the dream sequence cutscene kicks in). AND, I need to create moves for consuming beer, wine and brandy in battle.
...So just a few bugs then. _________________

Just another post reassuring everyone I'm still working on the game. I've been looking around for music to put into the game and have found a small selection. I particulary like the music I set aside for dungeon type places ( of course, I will have to ask the permissions of those people who created the music before I put it in). _________________

+I for one am glad that you are busying yourself with this project. I think we are all a little busy right now to tell the truth. Heh. I only saw what it "looked" like. Keep up the good work.
+And it might be a while, but I can barely wait until you get to the "post Spam" era section of the series. That has many plot twists and turns that I would like to see organized in a game. Are we the only ones into this, Junahu? _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...

It would seem so... and that's why I have to keep this game 'sensible' and organized (sensible as in you won't get confused with what the heck's going on). As soon as I get a sizable chunk of game finished I'm sure things will pick up. Either that, or this game becomes a valuable lesson on what NOT to base a game on.
Anywho, glad to see you're still here. If for any reason you want to participate further into making this game, all you have to do is ask. At the very least you have the enthusiasm for it.
sorry, I lapsed into propeganda there. _________________

I got to play it! The fact that it had to be made into an individual program, opposed to just the rpg file that you access through game.exe, is strange. But that seems to work! PEOPLE! Make your games accessable directly as .exe programs from now on, please!
So, I played through it and I liked it. There was a sad flashback part that was cool. I wasn't sure what connection the two human characters in the beginning had at first. I guess they are (were) just good friends of the Jabbercat. Anyway, I might help you (way) later on things like more grafics, and what-not. I liked some of the map designs and the grafics were cool so far.
That's all for now... I wonder if I am allowed to give a game a review for what it is so far. Then later I can review the updated version. I might stick with this one to see how it turns out. _________________ Planning Project Blood Summons, an MMORPG which will incinerate all of the others with it's sheer brilliance...
