I've been lurking around, but haven't really logged on or did anything worthwhile due to my busy life. But I still do stuff with the OHR every now and then whenever I have the time (and I've noticed that ES is the 6th most downloaded game on CP, hehehe). We should have a function or something to view games by most downloaded or something...

Anyways, to my main point.

I've been running the 48 hour contest for a while now, but the number of entrees each year slowly died down. Maybe people aren't just interested? I have a concept for this year's contest, but I wasn't sure if the contest would work or not due to lack of interest from participants, so I'm basically here to confirm whether or not if that was the case. so... main question: would you or would you not be interested in another contest?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated, as I did start this contest for the people, and I would still like to run it if people are still interested. If people are still interested, then the contest would be like the other years and start in mid-June-ish on a weekend, where it seems most conveniant for people. Of course, this isn't etched in stone, and I could change it to another time that would be even more convieniant.

Thanks in advanced.

I WOULD CERTAINLY JOIN!

*cough*

That is, if I don't have camp/work/college or something over when it would be (like last year...BAH.) But...yeah. I like the 48 hour contest. It is impressive. Happy

you've gotta be shitting me to say the 48 hour contesthas no interest for people.
i love the 48 hour contest for the fact that people always wait until the last day of contests to finish them. in most contests, people say 'oh, i'll do that later..', in the 48 hour contest, they say 'oh i'll do that lat-- OH SHIT IT'S 10 O CLOCK."
I'd enter..as long as aeth or me woud do..everything XD.

Well, Fenix I don't know whether you know, but that's right in the middle of this years Epic Community Marathon contest. The Marathon runs from May 1st to July 17th.
http://www.castleparadox.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1738&start=0

However, I would be very happy to join. I think that this is only the second 48 hour contest since I joined the communtiy, so I didn't get a chance to do anything before, but this is just the sort of no-commitment thing I like.

Also, you can view the gamelist by any criteria you like by using the search function, link at upper right.

(Lol... ES is only in 8th place... it's still good, tho)

You have to do the 48 Hour Contest. It's my favorite one and I've been anxious for it ever since last year. It's the first thing I did when I joined CP too.

I remember the first (maybe second, things like this slip my mind) where tatanlus entered with his custom battle system and won first prize.
The game was very fun for it's time.

I enjoyed ES and suspected it would be in the top ten somewhere Big grin
I have intentions of entering, but whether I do, depends on the time and what's happening at the time.

Darn, I wish so much that I would have the time to do a 48 hour contest entry. Ah well!

The 48 hour contest is the only one I join, so I'm all for it.

Looks like a fair amount of people seem quite interested. Then the contest goes on Ha ha ha!

My proposal for a day... since the marathon contest ends in July, I'm thinking about having the contest in the beginning of August (most likely the weekend of the 7th and 8th). More details will be posted in the future.

Fenix--

The Epic Sequel Marathon is a nine-week contest. If the contestants who want to participate in the 48-hour contest can't set aside two days to work on games for your contest (thus giving them an excuse to variate their focus for a breather from the games they make for mine), then there's something wrong. If June or July is better for you, then hold it then. At least you'll be consistent with past 48-hour contest start dates.

I've been pushing Epic Marathon back month after month because various community members launched month-long contests that would invariably burn the contestants out from wanting to participate in other contests. Because the the 48-hour contest is only two days long, the chance of it ruining any other contest being held around it is slim to none. Not only that, but it may even spark a fire in some contestants to continue on what they started for Epic Marathon since the 48-hour contest has that reputation of jumpstarting the community's most creative moments.

So the moral of the story is don't wait until August on my account. Host it on whatever weekend you want. It won't interfere with any other contest that may be going on at the time. It's way too short and productively important to do that.

And I won't be joining this year since I never finished my last two 48-hour entries.

How nice, Pepsi. And a good point besides.

If this is in the summer, I could work out a period of time. I like these contests. Good practice. Even though I usually can't finish because of stupid things (God is out to get me) I must succeed. But like I said, it has to be summer... After May. Hey, that might get some more people to want to start early in the epic contest, Pepsi. Razz

Pepsi:
I supposed you have a point there, but it still might make it slightly unfair to some people that take two days off to do the 48 hrs, apposed to the others who decide not to. I know it's only 2 days, but it might be valuable to some people.

Edit:
I have an idea that might work.

Suppose that we do have the 48 in mid-june. The games would then be released before the marathon ends. That way, we know who made a game for the 48, and those who are also in the marathon can have a choice whether or not they want 2 extra days to work on their marathon games. It's up to you if you want to do that, though...
